Dear Alabaster,
Regarding truth, while we must search for truth, we need to be kind and truthful at the same time. I am sorry, Alabaster, if I was unkind in referring to the "Church of the Duck". I am sincerely wondering about "avatars" though. ISTM a bit less than serious to have an avatar. We should just be ourselves and use our name as a user name. Some people wish to remain anonymous, though, and that's okay, and it's okay to have a patron saint. I guess I should lighten up. After all, I use a Chinese smiley face to bow in respect to people now and then.:nod God bless you Alabaster, and all the rest of you, Francisdesales, Drew, Cyberjosh, and Hitch, etc. In your search for truth. Hey, I thought you said it was OK to honor two dimensional pictures of saints... Now what are you complaining about? :shrug

Is there some EO tradition that a person must reveal his complete identity on the internet?

At least you weren't sent to the "Church of Slappy". :-)

When I first started chatting on Christian Forums it was back in the early days of Yahoo. They (Christians) had "rooms" one could enter and a strange custom of "bopping". It was instant chat, not a forum and one saint would enter and I'd read:

"Mariah bops Sparrow on the head"

I didn't know what to make of it. My birth order (being 4th of 5 kids) helped though. Having three older sisters in my family prepared me to understand that sometimes abuse is a sign of love. Strange, isn't it?

Dear Alabaster,

Yes, lighten up.

Dear Alabaster, There is a Duck River Baptist Association of some sort, some denomination in the name of Baptist. Perhaps there are some who affiliate with the name duck and take that as some kind of spiritual symbol. Or perhaps you are just joking around and just like ducks. I like animals. I have had pet cats. God bless all of God's creatures, ducks and all that. Seriously! It is a great mystery why God created animals, and what there place would be in God's plan for the afterlife of man in heaven and the new earth. Will there be ducks and cats on the new earth to come?
