As we remember Abraham Lincoln, we consider his belief that “all men are created equal” and his fight against slavery because of his Christian convictions.

I greatly admire Lincoln. He was speaking of his abhorrence of slavery well before his Presidency. He was doing this at a time when very little he wrote or said demonstrated a discernible faith as we would recognize it. He seemed to gravitate towards faith in response to the strains of overseeing the war and the death of his most lovable son, Willie.
I haven’t read the article linked here, but guess it’s yet another desperate attempt to link America’s greatest leaders and events in a concerted Christian effort. There has been a strong influence of Christianity in our history, but it’s a very mixed one and not as painted by these kinds of folks.
