Read these words of Matthew:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

When we repent, our problems disappear.

The only way to prove me wrong is to repent and find out for yourself. Any takers?

For your problem(s) with the the unalterable spector of being sentenced to serve the penalty of eternal death it is dependent on which sin you repent of. And in regard to that sin you have not been granted the latitude to pick which one it is.

I don’t believe in eternal death. The only way that can happen is if one never repents of their sin.

Repentance is a gift given to God's Elect, His Israel, from their risen Saviour Acts 5:31

31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Israel here is another name for His Elect, the Chosen of God.

Repentance means we stop sinning. We chooose either to resist the temptation to sin or give in to the temptation to sin.

Define repent.

Do you believe repent means to turn away from your sins? YES OR NO?

If yes, then let me ask you.. have you perfectly turned away from all your sins? If not, why not? Why have you not repented?:chin

Yes, repent, to me, means to stop sinning.

No, I am not aware that I have committed a sin in the last few days.

Well, change your definition to the correct meaning: To change direction of heart brought on by remorse. It is to say "I'm sorry not only for what I've done, but for what I am."

Biblicaly speaking, sin elijah is more than just what you think it is. It's more than a simple list of don'ts to avoid. It runs deep in the heart of mankind and there is nothing you yourself can do to avoid it. God offers us the way out through him only and not through our self, or our efforts.

You haven't completely repented until you've stopped sinning.

Folks the Bible has always been and will always be its own best commentary. Want the Bible definition of repentance? Then listen to the one by whose words we shall all be judged as He defines repentance: Matt.21:28-31!

Jesus is talking about sin. Turn from your sin. Stop sinning.

Yes, repent, to me, means to stop sinning.

No, I am not aware that I have committed a sin in the last few days.

So you claim and believe that you have completely and perfectly repented and stopped all your sinning? Yes or No?

So you are now sinless and perfectly keeping God's Law and 10 Commandments? Yes or No?

You haven't completely repented until you've stopped sinning.

So you believe we had a LOST MAN writing two thirds of the New Testament Bible? Because Paul says he hated what he was doing and indicating that he was sinning terribly!

So according to your beliefs, we have a LOST MAN who had never repented of his sins writing most of the New Testament Bible?

Yes, I believe I have fulfilled the Lord’s will over the last few weeks.

Paul was a great man, but I don’t think he was perfect.

Yes, I believe I have fulfilled the Lord’s will over the last few weeks.

The Bible says it all:

Ecclesiastes 7:20 Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Paul was a great man, but I don’t think he was perfect.

So you claim you have reached perfectionism and no longer sin, and that saves you. Yet you then say Paul was not perfect like you are, and had never repented of all his sins, so in other words you believe we had a LOST MAN writing most of the New Testament Bible.:screwloose

Well I tell you the truth.. you and Paul and everyone is a sinner and have died a sinner and it's only by God's grace a sinner can be saved, through Jesus' works, not your own effort or how "good" you believe you have become.

Come to Christ for mercy and salvation.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...

Repentance means we stop sinning.

The God I serve, gives His People repentance Acts 5:31

31Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Also the greek word for repentance here is metanoia and means:

a change of mind, as it appears to one who repents, of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done

I never heard of a repentance that means one stops sinning.

...

I never heard of a repentance that means one stops sinning.

If repentance means to stop sinning and turn away from all our sins, that means NO HUMAN IN THE WORLD has repented, not even Paul who wrote most of the New Testament Bible!

Repentance is a state of mind, an attitude. For example, Paul gives a good example of what it means in Romans 7:15. Notice he says he hates what he is doing. That is repentance, the attitude of hatred towards sin.

If a person sins and do not care at all, they have never been born again and have never repented.

Notice again Paul, who was saved, because nobody in their right mind would claim we had a lost man writing Romans, he was sorry for his sins, YET NOTE, he was sinning daily, hence, he says, that what he does he hates. If he was living a perfect commandment keeping life, he would never say he hates what he does and doesn't do what he wants to do.

Once a person is GENUINELY born again, God writes his law and nature on the persons heart, and now all of a sudden a person will hate sinning and all of a sudden walk in agreement with God and His ways. Then naturally a person will stop getting drunk, sleeping around, lying willfully to people, and instead begin to tithe, helping the needy, sharing what they have with others etc.

That comes naturally now, and they do it without thought, its become part of their new character and new natures, and they will walk in harmony with God.

If someone claims to be a Christian yet doesn't care about sinning and it doesn't bother them, then they are not sincere born again Christians in the first place and God's law has never been written on their heart, hence, they still have no conscience.

So do you hate it when you sin? Or do you not care when you sin? That attitude to however you feel about sin, is evidence if you have repented or not.

However, Repentance cannot mean to perfectly become commandment keepers, because that would mean only Jesus and the angels will be in heaven, because ALL have sinned and NOBODY has stopped sinning.
