Gen. 2
[4] These
[are the generations] of the [heavens and of the earth when they were created,] in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

And before that?? No sun, No light, No oxygen, AND [NO EARTH] yet! + what was only here that needed to be replaced?
(AND NO MAN YET!) what needed to be [replenished? Gen. 1:28 & Gen. 9:1]

What only could live in these conditions? Both good & bad angels were called ministering [spirits]. In Rev. 12 one sees several names given for satan & his crew. But notice the NUMBER of 1/3 of ALL in the heavenly rebellion of satan (Rev. 12:4-10) that were cast out of heaven [unto the earth].

(Pause! Jer. 4 finds the earth again as it was before creation, & with the same ones 'Chained' on earth in this same bottomless pit of circumstance! See Rev. 20:1-3 No live man yet!)

One needs not go further, they know that satan was in the garden & later took over even Cain's fate in Gen. 4:7, becoming his [new DESIRE], and satan + his evil crew were on planet earth before it was even created!

And surely they would be 'replenished' & replaced! These ones who would in a few thousand years pass out of Eternity! Obad. 1:16.. and yes, there were going to be many many more as well who satan would capture, huh? Rev. 17:1-5

I don't want to comment on when the rebellion in heaven occurred as I don't believe scripture is clear on this even though I do believe scripture says it occurred.

I want to comment on the replenishing of the earth. There are some who attempt to use these verses to justify a generation before Adam and Eve. Untrue!! There are multiple translations for the Hebrew word (mala--#4390) but the first on the list and the most common is--to fill. The world didn't need to be replenished, it needed TO BE FILLED.

Gen. 1:28--And God blessed them, saying, Increase and multiply, and fill the earth.......--Septuagint
Gen. 1:28--And God blesseth them, and God saith to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth..."--Young's Literal Translation
Gen. 1:28--And God blessed them, and said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth..." Green's Interlinear

Rev.20

[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
[2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
[3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

[4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

[5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.

(lets put number 6 here & see how it reads?;))
[6] This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
[7] And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

OK: Can you understand that? Christ comes at the end of 6000 years, The Saints are resurrected then, and ALL go to heaven & it is these ones that will replenish the New Earth. All the wicked are slain when Christ comes again and are DEAD, but they will have a resurection at he the end of the 1000 years to die the second death as does satan. (Obad. 1:16)

When Christ comes the second time, planet earth is as described befor its creation, (with satan here + 1/3 of the evil angels) Jer. 4:23-27 has it exactly as prophesied. NO LIGHT, NO HEAVENS, NO [LIVING MAN] upon Earth! [just evil angels!] And at the end of the 1000 years the wicked DEAD have their ressurection to die their SECOND DEATH, being executed according to their evil deeds. Rev. 20:9 (Luke 12:47-48)

I'm not arguing with your theology here. Only with the translation of the Hebrew word (mala). Just as the world was in the beginning of time-when the New Jerusalem descends, it is new, there are no evil angels in the New Jerusalem, the Saints are resurrected and go to heaven and will (mala-fill) the New Jerusalem. God told Adam and Eve to (mala-fill) the earth. Agree? Disagree?

Elijah674, I do find it extremely interesting that "replenish" is a valid translation of the Hebrew word.
And that the only two times it is translated "replenish" is right after the only two times the earth was covered with water.
