Which do you use? Which do you think we Christians should use? I'm sure we all know the Pagan history of Easter, but it is the more traditional name. Just wondering what everyone thinks. I prefer Resurrection day, but still tend to say Easter out of habit.

We'e the same as you. It's Resurrection Sunday in our family but still 'easter' too, no one knows what we're talking about otherwise lol :P

Sometimes there's just no need to be holier than my neighbours.
Actually that's most of the time.
Easter.

sorry??? i don't think this is about being 'holier' than anyone?? i'm not sure where that came from... he was just asking a relevant question considering the time of year it is now...

i don[t think that by calling resurrection sunday "resurrection sunday" or anything else makes you holy or otherwise???

Why not just Passover as the Jews (and the bible) call it. Otherwise I would tend towards resurrection day! :)

I won't even suggest "reishit katsir" (day of first fruits)! :gah

I have no idea what the word Easter means or where it came from, but I prefer Resurrection Day since Easter is about Christ's Resurrection. The word Easter is in Acts 12:4 in the King James.

I think I grew up calling it easter even though we never celebrated it the way others did. Then the pastor from our first church decided we were going to start calling it Resurrection Sunday because that's really what were were celebrating. I think when most people think easter, they think bunnies and eggs and he didn't want that. Since then, I've always called it Resurrection Sunday which makes more sense to me than easter. On top of that, easter, like most of our holidays, has pagan roots. Pervy pagan roots. So it's no longer attractive to me because when I think of easter and bunnies I think of the goddess of fertility. Ew.

Easter celebrations were held hundreds of years before Christ was born as festivals of spring honoring Eostre, the great mother goddess of the Saxons. This name was fashioned after the ancient word for spring, Eastre. The goddess Ostara was the Norse equivalent whose symbols were the hare and the egg. From this comes our modern tradition of celebrating Easter with eggs and bunnies.

"I'm a 'Christian' so I don't celebrate easter, I celebrate ressurection Sunday!!!"

I just call it Resurrection Day because all we know is that He was resurrected sometime between sunset of the seventh day and sunrise of the first day.

So there! :lol

I like Resurrection Day too. Somehow I think the world would have a hard time marketing a "Resurrection Bunny" and it's way past time to acknowledge Christian holidays for what they are (instead of commercializing them).

Easter is a goddess (demon) like Jezebel, in 2000 the Holy Spirit convicted me to learn the origins.
Another meaning I found for Easter was goddess of the east. Bilblically the east is mostly refered to as Babylon....

And we are told to get out of Babylon, how? By getting Babylon out of us.

What business do we have to sit at the table with Christ and demons?
The world loves Easter but hates Jesus, why? Because the world loves it's own...

Having said that may God bless all those who don't know the difference but truly love the Lord...

And those who know the difference and would rather put their energy into worthwhile pursuits, such as loving the Lord...?
