How can we know the difference from the wheat and tares?
How can we tell the difference from a real believer from a false believer?

Wheat is good to eat and profitable for trade. Tares look like wheat but it is poisonous to eat and not of any good to trade. Tares pretend to be wheat.

(Tares)- Lolium temulentum, typically known as darnel or cockle, is an annual plant that forms part of the Poaceae family and part of the Lolium genus. The plant stem can grow up to 1 meter tall, with inflorescence in the ears and purple grain. It grows plentifully in Syria and Israel.

It usually grows in the same production zones as wheat and is considered a weed. The similarity between these two plants is so extensive that in some regions cockle is referred to as "false wheat." It bears a close resemblance to wheat until the ear appears. The ears on the real wheat are so heavy that it makes the entire plant droop downward, but the "false wheat", which ears are light, stands straight.

How can we know the difference? I have studied this topic and will attempt to share what I know. Please feel free to add the revelations that God has taught you.

Wheat Believers versus Tare Believers-
1.Wheat can cry Abba Father because of the inner witness of the Holy Spirit and Tares cannot because they are not indwelled by the Holy Spirit
Ga 4:6 -Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

2.Wheat can know God in spirit and truth but Tares are under the deception of the devil.
Matt 7:21-23 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

3.Wheat produces good fruit and Tares produce false fruit.
Matt 7:15-17 15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

4.Wheat has the truth that sets us free, but Tares have a form of godliness but no power.
2Ti 3:5 - having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

5.Wheat is spiritual and Tares can be nothing but carnal.
1Co 3:3 - for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

6.Wheat where birth by the Holy Spirit and Tares were planted by the devil.
Mt 13:25 - but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

I believe the Tares do not and cannot know that they are Tares unless God draws them to the truth of His Son. The Wheat however know that they are wheat. Jesus said let the wheat and tares grow together. This means that they are growing together in the same churches.
Mt 13:30 -Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.

7.The wheat has a purpose that is of God, but the Tares have a purpose that is of the devil.
Joh 8:44 - You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. (the Sanhedrin sat in the Seat of Moses, but a great many of them were of the devil and did the devil's business by having the Messiah killed)

Outside of discernment being given to us from the Holy Spirit, I do not believe that there is a true measure of testing wheat from tares. We can attempt to do so, but we can often be wrong. Wheat can sometimes be mistaken as a tare depending on the mess of sin some saint find themselves in. Tares can sometimes be mistaken as wheat as a lot of unsaved people can do a mountain of good works. However, I believe in the times to come, the distinctions between the two will become a whole more noticeable.

I believe the Tares will be one of the greatest oppressors and thorn in the side of the true saints of God in the times leading up to and in the tribulation. They serve the anti-christ and do his works under deception.
Joh 16:2 -They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.

What can you add that lets you know the Wheat from the Tares?

Tares and Wheat are rooted together until the end for the growth of the Wheat.

Matthew 13:28-30(b)
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30(b) Let both grow together until the harvest:

The church is not going to be pure here on Earth....though there is a Bride (A Church that God can identify) being purified and set apart. There will be, until the Lord returns, tares spreading strife and false teaching. The tares will grow in their deception, ultimately being shown as weak and unproductive in the things of God, but to root them out would mean to hinder the growth of the Wheat in the Truth. God uses the tares to keep the roots of the wheat deep and strong in various ways. God will even use them to convert believers. So, He allows them to remain for now, and believers are to bear them. The Wheat, since their roots will not be weakened by weeding, will grow strong and produce good fruit, so that the Father will reap a good harvest. In Glory, believers will no longer have to bear tares among them. It will be pure, unified, and free to serve Him.

Psalm 1
1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Tares can be identified, if the believer looks and asks God to reveal them. If they couldn't be identified at all, then the entire church would be caught up in their erorr and deception. The Holy Spirit helps believers to be discerning so that a judgement can be made when needed, and God's Word says to look at their fruit...Is it of the Holy Spirit? I am not talking about a separating out that says he is, she isn't, etc, God has decided this is not what He wants to do at this time (maybe to keep from offending those tender Wheat plants), but a need to know maneuvering that prevents the Wheat from being overcome by them....so that they don't block out God's Light of Truth entirely. Those who have the gift of discernment can use their gift to edify the body when called to do so by God.

The Lord bless you.

I often refer to this passage when a topic like this crops up:

Mat 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Mat 13:32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

The branches (members) are an integral part of the tree (The Body) and the fruit it bears attract all sorts of "foul" (birds). Notice those birds aren't grafted into the tree, they are just lodging. Lodging birds will pick at a tree's fruit and spoil the fruit. They also often leave their "used" fruit behind on the branches. ;-)

The birds can provide a method of pollination though, so we can't get rid of them until the fruit is bared and ripe. 8-)

I blogged this a while back and it comes from being in a church that left the truth...

A Few Reasons Why The False Church Will Not Be Persecuted

1.) They do not preach repentance from sins.

2.) They do not preach the cross, the crucifixion of the flesh.

3.) They tell people what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear.

4.) They do not preach the whole counsel of God from scripture.

5.) They deny the true character and nature of God and present Him in the humanist image of man.
6.) In truth, they are no different than the world.

They will keep going on in deception ...

"For false christ's and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders,
so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24

2nd Thess 2: 9-12
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

JUDE 1: 12 - 13

These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

I've heard many people say in regards to those who teach and embrace false teachers and doctrines, "when the persecution starts you will realize you've believed a lie".

I say, not true. These wolves and their followers will be the ones who persecute the true remnant. They will be in perfect alignment with all that is evil, and will do the bidding of the antichrist spirit within them.

When we were caught up in doctrines of demons the majority of those involved embraced these teachings and loved the god they emulated, while a few became rebellious and completely left the church; others just left knowing 'something' wasn't right. The difference in deception and delusion is found in what you love and embrace versus "can you love and embrace lies?"

Most in the religious world are quite comfortable and 'at home' believing a lie.

" And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth..."

There's the difference.

I got a new question to add that I see another spurred my thinking. Who are the men that fell asleep? It is obvious that they got something to do with the enemy being allowed to sow the tares in the first place. I believe Jesus is making an accusation against the saints not being watchful of the enemy works within the body.

I also believe that there is nothing new under the sun. There will come a time of great conflict between the wheat and tares....... The tares will turn against the wheat as the sinners of Israel turned against the prophets and the Sanhedrin turned against Jesus. They were tares and pretenders who oppressed and attacked the wheat thinking they were doing God a service.

Everyone sleeps - and I think that's the point. There is no wrong in sleeping. Jesus did when here on earth. We know these things are going to happen and no matter what we do, God has determined that tares will be (already have been) sown.

And as far as the time of conflict is concerned I believe it is already at the door.

Manic,

That reminds me of the Garden of Gethsemane, when Jesus asked them to watch and pray, and they fell asleep....then the last time they were wakened the hour had come of His betrayal.

Maybe sleep is complacency. Israel would become complacent, and then false teaching/religions would creep in (be tolerated), and eventually would slowly become part of their lives...they would mix their idos, and worship, with their own Jewish faith.

The Lord bless you.

I think the issue of 'falling asleep' is a personal one - in that we need to 'watch and pray' that we do fall into temptation.

When it comes to tares being sown while everyone sleeps, to me this is indicative of something outside the realm of man's responsibility. It is going to happen - and God has already determined that it will.
