Twenty-six people -- 20 students and six adults -- were shot and killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012. The children ages were six and seven years old.

My question is what made the hedge of protection come down to give evil access to commit these murders?

Has God hidden this wisdom that some things are to wonderful for our understanding?

Is the premature death of children a warning?

I am looking for spiritual discernment.

I have literally revisited Sandy Hook, attending worship and memorial services in the local Methodist church, where a friend is pastor.
I don't have any spiritual discernment, I have only grief, and hope for the future. God is in charge, and we know the outcome of the battle against evil is already decided.

I am reminded of this scripture: Ecclesiastes 7:14-15 NIV

When times are good, be happy;
but when times are bad, consider this:
God has made the one
as well as the other.
Therefore, no one can discover
anything about their future.

15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these:
the righteous perishing in their righteousness,
and the wicked living long in their wickedness.
