UK Education Bill Will Allow Local Authorities to Force Homeschooled Children to Attend Failing Government Schools

I'm thinking of a certain foreign beer commercial...
I don't always answer the door when someone with a uniform knocks on it, but when I do, it's always with both barrels :lol

Sounds like a fantastic idea! Of course homeschooling used to be illegal in the U.S. As it should be.

I can’t read the whole thing. Just in the first few pages alone there is far too much unsubstantiated opinion. It looks largely like a communist opinion piece meant for its rhetorical power. Many of the same complaints made against homeschooling can be made against the education system. For instance, I’ve read at least two articles in the last couple of weeks of students being abused by their teachers. Also, in some cases, the curriculum of homeschooling is superior to any in the public school system. It simply can be a much better way of learning if it is done well.

Maybe the paper eventually distinguishes between homeschooling done poorly and home schooling done well, but given the abstract, I won’t hold my breath. Just because it is done poorly at times or because there is a lack of oversight doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. Arguing to democracy is clearly fallacious as any democracy is founded on the basic rights of free speech and freedom of belief and conscience. Yet, making homeschooling illegal would undermine those rights.

The most democratic response would be to get systems in place to monitor parents and ensure that the education is well rounded, even if there are some things that the powers that be disagree with. Of course the problem there is the significant number of socialist leaning people in education, where they all want conformity of thought and belief. However, the point is, anything done in the public system, any benefit to at a child might derive, can be done at least as well in homeschooling.

It's hard to indoctrinate and brainwash homeschooled kids. Gotta separate them from parents several hours a day to pull that off.

And make things so expensive that their wives will have to get a job too. She already had a job. Then you can't homeschool them and you can't teach them the Bible or critical thinking...cuz we're inttroducing a curriculum for the 3rd graders to learn that, you don't have to be a boy, you can choose...

Man, I like the shotgun comment more and more.

In most of these cases it is in the line of states from Texas to Florida, the deep south, which is highly Christian. No coincidence.
communist
I don't see that.

Often it is not. One popular Christian homeschooling curriculum adds another third dimension to the nature v.s. nature debate in science: spiritual. They place in theology and pretend that it is science. I have no problem with teaching the religious doctrine that spiritual changes can take place in a person - but that is not science.

I would argue that for homeschooling to properly function as designed, it must have little to no oversight; but if it has little to no oversight, it will often result in abuse and poor education. Thus the solution is to have no homeschooling.

The same could be said of homeschooler educators, especially Classical Conversations.

Gotta have kids learning under parents for the whole day in order to pull off a complete brainwashing of them. And many homeschooled kids truly are brainwashed. A 15-year-old Christian homeschooled kid I knew asked a question in Sunday School, "What is homosexuality?" Holy moly! 15-years-old and he doesn't even know what the word is!

Say what? Homeschooling is expensive. Public school is free. Or at least, can be free with government programs.

Parents can teach their kids all they want over the weekends, summer, and in the latter half of the day. Including Bible. (And of course they can learn it at church.)

I'm curious to know what you mean by this.

Well, Holy Moley! A 17 year old teacher with zero comprehension!. You can't even follow what I was saying?!

Of course.

How soon is your operation?

I'm curious to know what you mean by this.

So you don't get it? You really do not comprehend what I said? And you aspire to be a teacher?! I find that ironically funny.

Normally I don't mind clarifying myself. It's actually very simple and I could explain it easy to you...but then you would just tell me that I am wrong. About what "I" meant, lol.

So figure it out for yourself, teacher.

I have no plans for an operation because at present I am content with my male anatomy. At some point I may change my mind, though, and anyone who does want to change it should have that freedom.

Wow, sounds like you've thought about it some. Let me ask you something. If a guy gets his manhood cut off, then, that one is the girl or wife in the relationship? How do 2 gay guys figure out who's going to be the wife? Go make me a sandwich...right?

In most gay relationships, both guys still have theirs. But even if one does not, that does not necessarily make one of them more feminine; it's all about their self-identification.

With Pete Buttigieg and his husband Chasten, Chasten fulfills a more stay-at-home role, so in that sense he is closest to the wife in traditional heterosexual marriages. However, even then it is still not a too close parallel. In each marriage and relationship, the two men would work out those types of things for themselves, just as could be done in a hetero relationship.
