Sin Is Celebrated

So wishing this was not so...

2Ch_7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

1Pe_2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Hitching a campaign to legalism from a supposed grace preacher may not be all that bright.

It is very popular in the "church" to campaign against other people's sins and ignore their own. So there might be a message there.

As much as I love B. Graham, when it turns to legalism, it loses it's Gospel flavor.

IF society wants less of this problem, why not look at the possibilities of the emasculation of infant males through vaccines? This could play a part of why this "sin" is flourishing. Or perhaps preaching of no differences between the sexes that is beat upon school children in not differentiating boys from girls? Or fluoride and other harmful chemicals being pumped into the public water systems? Or excessive salt intake in the masses? Or other forms of environmental pollution or food supply/ingredients tampering with the male systems?

If males systems weren't so smashed up maybe the male testosterone/reproductive cell levels wouldn't be half of what they were 50 years ago?

Generally speaking men are a lot less aggressive today then they were when I was a kid. I think all of the above plays a role in that.

And certainly certainly if you want more lawlessness to transpire, just hold up the law. That is guaranteed to bring the opposite result.

What did you see as legalism in his comments?

The usual basis people use to condemn sin, which I totally accept, is the law. I actually prefer Jesus' enhanced version of law exemplified by Matt. 5:28 to really drive home the point that people really are sinners, regardless. That outcome doesn't change after salvation, as much as we prefer to believe otherwise.

So what in Franklin Graham's comments did you see as "legalism"?

See previous. If you think he derives his angle on this subject other than as "typically" derived, you're welcome to detail it.

So preaching righteousness will bring "lawlessness"?

That would be funny, if it wasn't so sad.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

Paul taught his people clearly to turn away from these sins... and constantly warned these Christians they would not inherit the kingdom of God if they continued to practice the works of the flesh.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 1 John 3:7

How else are you supposed to turn people back, who have strayed from the truth.

19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20

“Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” Jude 14-15

No one, no, not one believer or unbeliever ceases to be a sinner, period.

Paul addresses this matter of any believer thinking they are better when it comes to sin quite well. No one avoids the conclusion of being a sinner in fact no matter how good of an act they put on about it.

Paul taught his people clearly to turn away from these sins... and constantly warned these Christians they would not inherit the kingdom of God if they continued to practice the works of the flesh.

I understand that. The flesh does remain contrary to the Spirit however, regardless. No one is saved on the basis of sinlessness because that doesn't exist. We are directed to not be slaves of the flesh -> because that activity is demonic by nature.
How else are you supposed to turn people back, who have strayed from the truth.

If the quest is morality, I'd propose that any common Muslim is just as moral on a legally derived basis. Salvation is by faith in Christ through Christ.

Does any man of you care to admit your guilt of sin under Jesus' Sights in Matt. 5:28? Did that activity actually cease? Go ahead. Tell the truth. It doesn't hurt a bit. When we are truthful we stop lying to ourselves and are concerned for every person regardless of their sins. Jesus can do what He wants from there.
