NASA needs your money.
So, they are liable to tell you anything, photoshop any photo, or deceive in any way possible, to get more of it.
You have to understand that NASA is a word, but what it actually is, is a bunch of highly educated people who want to keep making more money telling you that you need to keep financing their "scientific exploration" nonsense.
Otherwise we stop paying for their nonsense and they go away.
They are not actually searching for anything other then a way to keep their jobs.

Mars does not have enough gravity to make terraforming practical. Maybe they can send robots there to build a research facility using indigenous materials.
