Yes one of our members of this board did a similar things as a ministry. And once Linux was loaded he never heard of any software issues ever again. LOL Anyway, this laptop is feeling its age 1GB RAM and 80GB HD (Dell Inspiron from 2006). I'd like to load Linux Mint on a newer system. My son had a 2GB and I think something like 160GB HD HP probably not much newer but more powerful. He's into computer science and loaded Mint for me and I loved it except..... upon boot-up the screen intermittently does not work (I can see the drive flashing). It seems this model had problems with the video components overheating and happened a lot to others. This is a true hardware issue which saddens me. My biggest challenge is not loading Linux again, but finding a perfectly good (hardware-wise) used computer that nobody wants any longer. I don't know of too many. One friend said her daughter wanted a Mac and they have an old 5-year-old laptop. So I figured as with all Microsofts, no exceptions, that this thing probably had 60 viruses on it and slowed it down. They said it was otherwise "good" but then when I talked more, something about it not working right since lightning struck.... uggh! People don't really know software from hardware issues. LOL
