It's not just the educational system either. It's a culture that doesn't value competition and learning. So many things wrong with our world and why people are so ignorant on basic thinking skills. Yet we have expert after expert thinking they have the "fix" for eduction. I can't tell you how many changes I've experienced in my 30 years of education experience. It's always something new. Meanwhile kids still lag behind expectations.

The scary thing is that my son told me last night that he just changed his major to become a teacher.
*Sigh*.
I'm going to try to steer him to mathematics because I do want him to get a job after he has graduated and math teachers are in the shortest supply. They are more heavily recruited than any other teacher.
It's a more difficult track of courses...but that's why they are in short supply.
