I don't know much about this subject.
But I'm curious about some things and the effect it has on our christian lives.
Someone says a word and it means something bad.
So, instead of saying it, the word is substituted for another word that's not as bad, but still gives pretty much the same meaning.
Then someone substitutes that word for a slang word.
Then another slang word.
Now someone uses this watered down slang word loosely.
Does the subconscious mind automatically pick up the original bad word and it goes into our being?
Should we be using these slang words at all?
Some of these slang words are used to substitute the name of God, substitute swear words, and words with a bad meaning.
Should we be aware of these things?
Should we look to correct our language?
It may not be bad to you but what if it is bad to someone else?
Example: the word "damn".
Now we don't want to be damning anyone, now do we?
We don't say "God damn".
We know that is bad.
So we substitute it with "darn".
Now that's not as bad, is it?
And then "durn"
And then "dang".
Question: is our subconscious picking up "damn" when we use these words?
This is just one example.
Does anyone have a say on this?
