This is a passage taken from Amos 9 and Jeremiah 12 concerning the rebuilding Israel after the Babylonian captivity. Here is a verse farther down in the passage in Amos that explains it:What of the tabernacle of David?
Act 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
His prophetic career began in 750 BCE out of the town of Tekoa, in Judah, south of Jerusalem.[1] Despite being from the southern kingdom of Judah Amos' prophetic message was aimed at the Northern Kingdom of Israel, particularly the cities of Samaria and Bethel.[2]

Storm,
Is the tabernacle of David a temple or a tabernacle?
Is there a difference if so what are/is the difference?
Storm i have my view on this but wish to with hold it as to not taint your thoughts.
Please give this a bit more thought and let me know your thoughts again thanks
First of all, let me indicate that I have not done much study in this area, so I am going to try and answer this from what I remember of earlier reading. I may not get it right.![]()
That was 'Moses' tabernacle. The Tabernacle preceded the Temple and was the template after which the Temple was built. The Tabernacle had all of the same features of the Temple - it had a veil, a holy of holies to hold the Ark and the altar - except that it was a tent, meaning it was portable.
I had originally indicated in my post that Amos was writing about the Temple until I realized he was a prophet to the Northern Kingdom. As there was only one Temple - and that was (and would be again) in Jerusalem, it's likely that the Northern Kingdom had its own version of the Tabernacle and that this version would have been more like what was known as a Synagogue, the likes of which had been built during the captivity in Babylon and Persia.
The Tabernacle was also called the tent "of meeting" and this is also how the Synagogue was used (and remains so even today.)
Don't know if that answers your question, but that's all I've got. :p
The Ark was in the Holy of Holies in Moses tabernacle...
Years later David retrieves the Ark from the bad guys.
We understand the Ark to be where the presence of God sat, the Mercy seat etc..
I am no theologian so my words may not be exactly right.
David reclaims the Ark , bringing it from there to here. He puts a 'tent' over the Ark .. The Ark and all that it means is not behind the vail, not hidden in the back side of the tabernacle, the folks are not forbidden to be around the Thing....it is in the presence of the people.
2Sa 6:17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
