“Take Time To Just Praise Him”
By Zach Wood
Psalm 103:1-2 NLT
Let all that I am praise theLord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise theLord; may I never forget the good things he does for me.

This past Sunday, the pastor at church read this passage and brought something to mind that really challenged me. How often do we come to God each day filling our time alone with Him with many, many requests? Don’t get me wrong here, God does ask us and longs for us to bring Him the concerns of our heart and the many things that weigh us down. However, as I was listening to the sermon and thinking about these verses, I couldn’t help but think of how often I bring my needs and wants before God, but rarely just take the time to be in His presence and just praise Him.

I’d like to ask that you think back over the past week, month or year and consider how much you’ve just taken time to do nothing but come before God to praise Him and thank Him for Who He is and what He has done? I know for myself, I am so guilty of turning my quiet time with God into endless requests and very little time of just giving praise to Him.

Does God invite us to bring our requests before Him? Absolutely! Again, He is always there for us, no matter what is on our mind and heart. But just think about how amazing it would be if we took a morning that we usually lay out tons of requests and, instead, just focused on giving Him praise and thanking Him for all the good things He has done and continues to do.

Take time to praise Him when you get up. Take time to praise Him on your way to work. Take time to praise Him as you drive the kids to school. Take time to praise Him as you take your kids from one activity to another. There are so many times that we can stop and take in His beauty around us and praise Him.

May we always be mindful of what He has done for us, wherever we are at and whatever we are doing. Our God deserves and longs to hear the praises of His children. He cared enough to send the very best to us, Jesus Christ. Shouldn’t we take time out of our way, not only to bring our concerns and needs before Him, but also to just praise Him because of Who He is?

I myself am very guilty of this. It seems at times with my best intentions, not to come with endless requests I still fall into that. My biggest problem is that I can't get past sinner saved by grace and find myself stumbling to praise and then find myself just confessing my sin after sin then shutting down. What has helped me is when I pray as Jesus taught us to pray.

When I follow that model prayer and get to the part "Forgive us our sins" I find myself thanking God I am forgiven" that lifts my spirit.

Another thing that helps me is the a song I put on. It's Psalm 145 by Dustin Kensrue; as follows

Verse 1:
I will bless You all of my days, Lord
I will praise You always my God and King
I will bless and honor Your name Lord
always and forever my soul will sing

Verse 2:
Such a vast unsearchable greatness
Great is Yahweh, worthy of all our praise
Let your people sound through the ages
All your awesome works till the end of days

Chorus 1:
We have seen your splendor and glory
we have seen your wonders and stand amazed
Every tongue will echo your story
everyone will sing of your righteous ways

Oh let all that lives ever bless His name

Verse 3:
All that you have made Lord will praise you
All your saints will worship in joyful strains
praise the Lord who ransoms and rescues
praise the God of glory who ever reigns

Chorus 2:
He is holy judging the wicked
guarding those who love him and fear his name
All that call out Yahweh is with them
He will hear their cries. He is strong to save

He upholds the one who is stumbling
lifting up those burdened with heavy loads
opening his hands to the hungry
blessing all that look to their Lord in hope

He is tender toward his creation
He is faithful and gracious in all he does
Great is Yahweh full with compassion
slow to anger filled with unfailing love

Oh let all that live ever bless His name
Oh let all that live ever bless His name

It encompasses everything about God for me. Read chorus 2.
When that sinks in then we can praise as from verse 1 to verse 3.

How then can we not praise him.

Let us all praise his name. He is holy and tender towards us all.

Thank you father
