Thankful? Really?
By: The amazing Brother MikeEph_5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1Co_15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
There was a family out of food, they had nothing to eat. So, the Lord asked me to go and help them out with that. I told them I was going to get food, lets go shopping, just get what you want. Before we even left for the store, they just thanked me over and over with tears. It really meant a lot to them that I just showed up and was willing to do that. It removed all the burden from them of what to feed their kids, and trying to figure out what they where going to do. They thanked me all the way to the store, and after we were done shopping.
Now, I kept reminding them the Lord ask me to do it, but they still just saw me as the one using my money and time to get them some food. They thanked me before we even went to the car, to drive to the store.
Well, whatever, it is more blessed to give than receive. Just to see them happy, and that worry removed from them made my whole week and some days after.
So the Lord then asks me.
What if they said,
"Do you have enough money to take us to the store?
How do I know that your really going to buy us food?
Well, OK, fine, I suppose you just want to get us a couple items to last a day or two, I guess it's better than nothing.
Well, when the food gets in our house, then I'll believe it, you sure you want to do this?
I hope you keep your word, we really need food."
I thought about this. I suppose I would not be that overly happy then to go buy them food. If I tell someone I am taking them to the store, get what you want, I don't really expect that kind of response. I would not expect the overly happy response I did get, but nothing like that.
The Lord then told me...... "My people treat me exactly like that, they have this wait and see attitude toward me to see if I will keep my Word, and worry and cry, since they don't see it. If they treated me, like that family treated you, I would be able to do so much more for them."
Wow, OK. I was wondering if I was instructed to get food to get a lesson here. I mean I know we are suppose to be thankful to God, but I never saw it from God's side. This family was thanking me out of a sincere heart, fully knowing they where getting food in the house before we even jumped in the care to get food.
There is a difference in just thanking God for this or that, and thanking God because you fully know that What He said is a done deal and can not be changed.
Php_4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
If God said He was going to supply all your needs, then that would be a more sure thing than me saying lets go buy some food. I have to get you to the store in a car that can break down, a tire could go flat, the store could blow up, any number of things could stop us going to the store.
With God though, there is nothing that can stop what He said, no need to worry, or lay in bed thinking about it. No, you can thank Him sincerely that He said He would meet your needs. A done deal, no worries, thank you Lord!!!
A more sure Word than what Brother Mike can give, or any other human.
You can tell right away if you believe God for something. If you do believe, then you really are thanking him sincerely, and not just thanking him to be thanking him, or worse, worried He might not care enough to come through and not be thankful at all.
One thing that can stop God though, and that is if you get out of the car, saying, "I don't know if God is going to come through or not."
Stay in the car, thank Him all the way to the Store, and long after the food is eaten.
