The understanding of this scripture has been confusing since its translation from the Greek words and context is not clear. If you are truly seeking the truth and God's kingdom, if you study the original Greek words, and if you are with the Holy Spirit, you will see clearly the message.

5th Trumpet
A key is given to a great leader (star) to open the pit of the abyss.

Smoke (way of deception) came out of the pit and darkened the sunlight and air (the proclaiming of the kingdom of God by the faithful elect).

This will happen as follows.

Out of the smoke came locusts (many men), which were told by this leader to injure only the men who do not have the seal (mark) on their foreheads of the locusts' god (the god of this star-beast).

It was given to these locusts that they should not initially kill these men who do not have this seal (mark-belief), but that they should first be tormented (examined-tortured) for 5 months. This torment (examination-torture) was like the torment of scorpion stings. During these days shall seek (question-debate-make controversy) men their death (cause of death) and shall not find (ascertain by examination) it; and shall desire to die (to be disaccustomed-to be untaught), and therefore they shall flee (escape, avoid) death.

(Note: the highlighted green words are other definitions of the same underlined Greek words.)

In other words, these self proclaimed Christians will compromise on their faith after they have undergone examination and persecution. They will therefore accept, acknowledge, and embrace the preeminence of the “righteousness†of the way of the beast, which all of man will glorify as the true universal values of peace and as the belief in the freedom and respect of rights and religions. Those who do not compromise, will be killed.

These locusts will have the faces of men, be powerful, and their authority will be supported by all the “crowns†of the world nations. They will be ruled by a leader who God describes as the spiritual destroyer (Apollyon, Abadon). God refers to him as the destroyer because his way leads to the destruction of the True Way. This world leader, along with all of mankind, will also succeed in physically destroying the elect from the surface of the earth. Man will have rejected the Truth and the True God, after which time Christ will return.

This was seen in the past with the flood, where man rejected God.
This was seen in Sodom and Gomorrah, where there was not one found, besides Lot, who worshipped God.
When man rejects God completely, God gives them over to the consequences of their ways and perversions.

After which, judgement and punishment is imposed on all the individual self serving interest which creates injustice, hatred, perversions, lies, murder, adultery, fornication, hypocrasy, and on and on.

I hope that this will help you to see the truth and the purpose of our service, as bondmen of Christ, to stand for Him and to serve the One and Only True God.

I will break your post down and respond as such

Where do you get the Idea that these Locust are men? They are not they are fallen angels, and the book of Jeremiah touches on them - lets go there.

Joel 1:4 "That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten."

As you can see the palmerworm comes before the locust, the palmerworm's are the same people in power to this day,,,the same people Jesus called fake Jews the same people that run the world.

The Locust (fallen angels) are the second stage of this four part stage...

The problem here is that it's not refering to some "locust god" or "beast god", but to God, with an uppe case G - the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This isn't just an interpretation, it's what the text says.

In English, you can tell whether the word "god" is being used to refer to the biblical God or to Pagan gods by the use of capitalization. God with a capital G refers to the God of the Bible, while god with a small g refers to false gods. In Greek, the word θεός (theos) can refer to either the biblical God or to pagan gods but, in the original manuscripts, from which our Bibles are translated, there is no upper or lower case. They are all either one or the other. But there is a way of seeing which meaning of θεός is being used, and that is the definite article. ο θεός (ho theos = the god) refers to the biblical God, while θεός (theos = god), without the definite article refers to other gods. In Rev. 9:4, "the god" is the term used, and the correct translation is, therefore, "God", with a capital G.

The locusts are told not to hurt those who have God's seal, that is, those who are saved. I know that doesn't go very well with the pre-trib rapture theory, but it's what the Bible says. I wonder which is wrong. :chin

Know whats funny, God uses trees to decribe mankind over and over in the bible, actually God calls Himself a great fir tree..

Locust eat trees, but these locust were told

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Perhaps the grass and the green things and trees are not really grass and trees at all - perhaps they represent christians, or at least those that have the seal.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

That's one possible interpretation, but I've always thought it meant that they aren't to hurt the plants, because Christians need them to survive.

Let me ask you, if the waters become poisoned wuld that not effect the trees?

And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

Possibly some, but not necessarily 1/3 of the trees, but only those that grow close to the affected lakes and rivers.
