The Holy Spirit came “inside†of us when we were born again, right?
Jesus promised, “the Spirit of truth … will be in you.†(John 14:17)
Romans 8:11, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Gatatians 4:6, 2 Timothy 1:14, 1 John 3:24 and 4:12-16.

The Holy Spirit came “upon†God’s prophets in the Old Testament:
“and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward†(1 Samuel 16:13)
“Elisha said, ‘Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.’ †(2 Kings 2:9)
“Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah†(2 Chronicles 24:20)
“… says the LORD … My Spirit who is upon you (Isaiah) …†(Isaiah 59:21)
“Then the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said to me (Ezekiel) …†(Ezekiel 11:5)

Specifically concerning the Messiah:
“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him …†(Isaiah 11:2)
“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.
… the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.†(Isaiah 60:1-2)

Matthew reminded us of the prophecy in Isaiah 42:1
“Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
I will put My Spirit upon Him, and He will declare justice to the Gentiles.†(Matthew 12:18)

John the Baptist testified:
“I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him (Jesus).
I did not know Him, but He (Father God) who sent me to baptize with water said to me,
‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes
with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.†(John 1:32-34)

Gabriel promised Mary:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you;
therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.†(Luke 1:35)
Then shortly afterwards, Mary prophesied in Luke 1:46-55.
Jesus is only “called†the Son of God (everyone knows God never had any offspring).

Simeon was special:
“And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was
just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death
before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.†(Luke 2:25-26)

Jesus showed the way with his double baptism:
“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water;
and (then) behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.†(Mt. 3:16, Mk. 1:10, Lk. 3:22, Jn. 1:32)

Jesus testified in the synagogue:
“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me …†(Luke 4:18)

Quite a concept, (or is it satire??) the Holy Spirit is on the Outside of the Born Again Heart & Mind, but not inside! Heb. 8:10 + Heb. 10:15-16 only has the Laws of God INSIDE OF US. And Act's 7:54-55 finds Stephen stoned to death, and it says that [But he, BEING FULL OF THE HOLY GHOST], looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.'

And the Strivings of the Holy Spirit for the 120 years with the pre/flood ones (Gen. 6:3) was just trying to come upon them & not get inside of their Heart & mind?? Christ stated clearly that 'YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.' (on the outside??:screwloose) I don't buy that! it sounds like the post has not had that required 'intering'??

And Acts has the Holy Ghost only given a place to set or stand upon them in Acts 5:32?? '.. and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them [that obey him.]'

No friend, to me, that is the first required heart & mind transplant of Christ's Moral 'EPISTLE' character recreated [IN ONES HEART], if it has taken place? 2 Cor. 3:3

Elijah674,

This baptism happens after salvation ... it does not replace it, etc.

This baptism is a special anointing for a special ministry or task.
For example, sometimes it is for someone to be an especially powerful prayer warrior.

All of the applicable passages say the Holy Spirit comes UPON the person.

From the chart ... those who receive this baptism:
-- receive the Holy Spirit
-- are filled with the Holy Spirit

There is a difference between born again of the Holy Spirit and being baptised with the Holy Spirit.

You are "born again" with the Holy Spirit when you reach out and accept the gift of heaven and invite Jesus into your heart. Being "baptised" with the Holy Spirit can happen repeatedly after being "born again" of the Holy Spirit.

The "baptism" of the Holy Spirit is to empower you to tell others about Jesus and the joy and hope found in Him. The "baptism" of the Holy Spirit will also fill your heart with more love for God and others.

Being "born again" of the Holy Spirit saves you, then when you're "baptised" with the Holy Spirit over and over again, this is to help you and give you power and desire to reach out and save others.

You have been "born again" when you accepted the gift of heaven. But now you need to ask God to "baptise" you and to fill you with His power that comes from the "baptism" of the Holy Spirit. Do this daily.

The disciples in John 20 were BORN AGAIN with the Spirit, then 50 days later they were BAPTISED with the Holy Spirit. So, the disciples received the Holy Spirit in John 20 and were "born again", then 50 days later, they sat around and received a BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit, and this was AFTER they were born again with the Spirit 50 days earlier in John 20.

The Day of Pentecost is the day that the disciples were baptised with the Holy Spirit, and this happened 50 days AFTER they were born again and received the Spirit initially in John 20:22.

So they received the Spirit twice, once in John 20:22 and were "born again", then 50 days later at The Day of Pentecost and then they were "baptised" with the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism portrays the act of repentance, death to sin and the old life, and then the burial of the old sinful life, and the resurrection to walk in new life in Christ.
