The Blood of the Covenant

A major theme throughout the Bible is that of the importance of blood in God's covenants. Without the shedding of blood, there can be no atonement, not remission of sin.



Exodus 24:8
He said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words

Leviticus 17:11
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul

Matthew 26:28
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Atone means to cover.

The Blood of Jesus takes away your sins.

This is why Jesus said no one has seen the father. At that time the saints were in Abraham's Bosom, in the heart of the earth. Paradise.

Great point about the goats and bulls! Which is why the author of Hebrews writes about a "better" covenant. "But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises." Hebrews 8:6

David danced before the Lord
He danced with all his might.
His heart was filled with holy joy
His spirit was so light.

I hope I remembered the right words to this song. It's been a long time.
Anyway, I think David understood faith, grace, and that the Messiah was coming with the new covenant.
It makes me feel like dancing, too.
