The Board Game Vision
I was in the middle of prayer this morning when I saw a vision of a Snakes and Ladders board game. A hand threw some dice (red and white), which fell on the board, and a piece moved along the numbered path until it hit a snake. The person's piece slid down the snake, and he had to start on the level below, making his way back up again. The player kept landing on those snakes and sliding back down the board. He kept trying, though, and almost got to the top of the board when he hit a large snake, and he slid back down to the bottom of the board. As I watched this game play out, the Lord dropped a verse in my mind that says:

5Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3.

As I watched this game play out, the Lord dropped a verse in my mind that says:

Ladders are equated with ascending to Heaven. You see this in Genesis when Jacob built an alter to God, calling the place where he slept "a ate (or gateway) to Heaven," when he had a dream of a ladder ascending to Heaven with angels ascending and descending on it. The vision suggests that we should look to the Lord for our specific direction, including through dreams just as Jacob received, for this is how He often directs our paths specifically, and reveals to us the strategies of the Devil as well, keeping us from falling into pitfalls and set backs. The snakes in the vision are obvious allusions to the enemy, and the "traps" he sets for us to keep us from progressing spiritually in our way to Heaven.
