The conservative dates are closer to truth since they are within the lifetime of the authors.

That is correct. The gospels look like they were written closer to 100ad but that wouldn't make sense.

Also, Peter's espistle was not written that late, John died somewhere around 100AD, and John out lived all the other apostles.
