For those of you with the patience of a saint who still own a Microsoft computer in spite of my many warnings about the malware it gets, and are otherwise tired of hearing pests like me singing the praises of Linux, I just want to share this article:
http://articles.economictimes.india..._counterfeit-software-malware-software-piracy
Of course when you read the article, it's basically bashing pirated software and such downloads instead of spending even more $$$ for "safe" software.
But for me there's only 2 types of malware:
1) The type you deliberately download, as in a Trojan. All Os's can get this type of malware, but it's the fault of the user in some way being tricked.
2) The type that downloads itself. You merely do something "human" like accidentally type in a wrong web site address, or maybe nothing at all, it comes from a flashing banner on a web site. Only Microsoft gets these.
The article would have you believe the reason for malware on Microsoft is #1 (i.e. those cheap users who don't want to spend $$$ on our software get what they deserve), but trust me, more comes from reason #2. I know. Back in my unfortunate days I owned Microsoft, I knew better than to download just anything I was totally paranoid, and yet got virus after virus.
So for all that malware that the news claims the new Android devices get it's reason #1, while Microsoft news stays suspiciously quiet, making the competition look as flimsy and bad as they are themselves and their malware is from reason #2.
I have yet to know of anyone who got a virus on their Macs, Linux machines or personal devices. On a Microsoft I have yet to hear of anyone who DID NOT get at least one virus on a Microsoft machine, and in most cases it's many such as the lady who brought her machine for over my brother to fix with 60 viruses on it! I don't think there's that many total in the wild for the other OS's let alone all those for one computer! Incredible.
Like I said.... patience of a saint. Lord knows, I lost that patience loooooooong ago.
