Christmas day should be the same as the New Year, or is the new year 8 days later based on the circumcision.
Christmas the birth.
New Year the circumsision.
Easter the ressurection.
All we need now is the feast of miracles, what it is, is a big wine festival in rememberance of turning water into wine and all the miracles Jesus done. Everyone makes wine and throws a massive party. It would be a week long festival. I was thing maybe mid autumn after the festival of grape harvest.
Now we have a huge problem that can grow into the next twenty years of study, research, discussion, debate and at the end of it all, a fight because nothing will be settled. Why you ask? Jesus, almost certainly was not born on December the twenty-fifth and neither was he, almost certainly born on the date celebrated before the Pope lied in or on about 375 AD and made it December the Twenty-fifth. Before that it was celebrated by the Church that was before the Catholic Church on January the sixth.
And then there is the resurrection? Just as with our LORD's birthday being incorrect, He did not come out of the grave on Easter. AS nearly as it can be correctly computed, Resurrection Sunday ranges anywhere from dead on to five or six weeks off this or that way, depending on the yuear in question.
Now that you're sitting there asking yourself, "Is that maniac trying to ruin young Christians and those young in the faith"
No but i would see your faith never falling on these dates for a platform. Let's take Christmas and from there, you really should study on the subject with your Bible while bathing it in prayer and using some good History books checked out of the local library.
In the scriptures we find the Shepards in the fields with their sheep grazing and that puts the birth, in my opinion, would have been some time between mid-spring and mid-fall because the sheep, even in South central Texas, are sheltered between mid-fall and mid-spring..
The only reason I have ever been able to find reasonable for the birth of Jesus being celebrated on the date it is now is because it is the Winter Soltace, the shortest day of the year, the day the Sun begins to shine more and more each day. This was the day everyone that was not grounded in scripture celebrated the Birthday of the Sun God, known to different tribes and nations by an almost limitless assortment of names.
My only reasoning is that the Pope integrated the twenty-fifth of December is for the Universal Reason the Popes have intigrated so many Pagan beliefs into their services in places such as Central America, Africa and so many other places... the misguided hope it could be used for evangelism. {Footnote: Make this about the catholic Church and i will tell Reba or someone to shut it down.}
So does the date matter? No, if it was important He would have had it recorded the same as He did with the Feasts for the Jewish believers. What matters is your heart.
For that matter, as I've heard {never researched by me} the Christmas Tree is, definitely not rooted in scripture but in no way do i suggest you toss that practice into the trash heap, as long as you restrain yourself from being sucked into the Devil's Commercialization of Jesus"Birthday and do not lie to your children about Santa being real, celebrate and use the celebration to teach the truth of scripture to the little ones, i can think of nothing better to do with the day.
