I love this song.

Singer, songwriter and comedian Mark Lowry wrote that song back in 1984, inspired by a Christmas program he was working on for church. It wasn't until seven years later that Buddy Greene wrote the music and sang it for Mark over the phone.

I went to a Mark Lowry comedy show in the 1990s and learned this then. Mark did about a 75 minute stand-up show and at the end, he told the story that he sat down and wrote a song, told us what he was trying to say with his song - and then, He sang it with, I think, a music track off a cassette.

It wasn't just that he did a great job singing it, I think we all were moved that the "funny guy from the Gaithers" would write something so heartwarming and profound.

I was shocked to find it was a Lowry creation. I love the CeeLo version. It's a great song and certainly agree it is not something one would first think was attributed to a comic.

Lexy, loves this song too. She was planning on singing at church last Sunday night. I didn't ask her if they fit it in or not.

I have often said that it is very important to remember that Mary and the disciples never really understood Jesus. At least not until he rose from the dead. Even they did not understand what He was really doing, or why he allowed Himself to be taken and executed. While they sure believed in Him and believed Him - they really did not understand the plan. Until. Until he rose from the dead. It was not just Thomas who woke up - they all did.

They had to.

As to Mary...
I can just imagine what went thru Mary's head and heart over those three days. She HAD to be confused and over-wrought with fear and, well, terror as the state put Him to death. I'm sure all she could do was 'cope', as I doubt she could understand.

Then, three days later, the whole universe changed for her and the disciples.

And for us.

I was pondering the early church days and here there receiving the Holy Ghost and in fellowship telling stories of baby Jesus. she had to know the most about him in his youth then any of the apostles. I would ask about that stuff.
