I have never heard that anyone has got God appearing in his mind. Instead lot of us have got mean characters appearing there. Really sad really. Scizophrenia as a mental disease, seems like unwinable disease. I have been trying everything to get ridd of it, I have also tried to learn live with it. But, the low IQ'd demonic characters never learn. They use my brain for their tasks and I suffer because of that. I'm a good guy, also rather smart one too. I make music, I have a homestudio. Music helps me a lot - it's a gift that just keeps giving. Without music I wouldn't like my life as much as I do. Is there anything on Christianity to help me with the characters, that appear in my mind? One of the voices keeps saying " I'm trying to find out the truth " Should I say it's a bible?
God has appeared in MY mind, only as a voice, but still, He DID manifest to me once. That is a discussion for another thread, and another time.
As to your mental condition, I think I understand. My youngest son (he is 30 now) is schizophrenic, and he is also a Christian.
How has his faith helped him? Well, since he came to trust the Lord at an early age,he knows one thing. Bryan knows that no demon can get to him, because our Lord is with him and no demon can abide with our Lord! So, the discussion ends there.
His mental condition became obvious at age 14, but as we talked to him, we learned that he had been seeing ghosts and monsters since he was very young - maybe 5 or 6. Bryan saw the movie "Ghostbusters" at a very young age - we learned years later that he thought he saw "Slimer" the ghost following him around for years. One some level, he knew that Slimer was not real - and on some level, he was less than sure of what he knew. At age 14, when his condition got worse (he 'saw' aliens doing autopsies on humans thru the stained-glass windows of a local church about 1/2 hour after seeing "Independence Day"), I took him to a doctor and we all learned about schizophrenia.
You called schizophrenia a disease, and it is a disease. It is NOT a spiritual condition - many will tell you that it is, I, for one, speaking as a long time parent of one who has this affliction can tell you that it is NOT a spiritual condition. I (and I don't know you, I could be wrong) do NOT believe that demonic characters are using your brain. See, I do not believe that the demons you hear from (or see) are any more real than the ghosts my son once saw.
Bryan had to learn to understand that what he saw and heard were not real. Our minds are wonderfully created. There are something like 100 billion (100,000,000,000) neurons that make up our brains. That is 100,000 million! The complexities of our brains are far beyond human understanding. The brain is an organ, just like any other organ, and if IT does not work properly, the effect is that what you "know" is rather confused. And such defects can be passed down thru families. Schizophrenia often skips a generation, and it did in my family. My dad's mom was Schizophrenic, it skipped my brothers and I, and landed on my youngest son.
For my son, music is helpful, but his art work, his family and his pet dog are his primary coping mechanisms. And being part of a support group is ALSO very helpful. I feel for your condition and situation. I have no instant answers - you said yourself that this did not seem to be a winable (that is cureable) condition, and I agree. But all hope is not lost -my son has become a very happy person who enjoys life very much. The drugs he has been on have helped, but they are not a cure.
I wish only to encourage you. God, it seems, created us to BE equal, but in some ways He did not create us with equal circumstances, joys, pains, interests, intellect, gifts, handicaps or souls. My sister is dying at the age of 60 from M.S. - this makes no more sense to me than you or Bryan being struck with schizophrenia. I have no answers, only my observations and advice. If it seems I have not offered advice, please read this post again.
If you still don't see the advice, send me a private message here.
