So, Delta sent me a text at 3am that my flight today would be 2 1/2 hours late. In fact, it was 3 hours and 40 minutes late. But no matter, it's all in a day's work for me.
I found myself in a window seat next to "Shelly". She was about my age and really quite an impressive person. By the time we lifted of the runway, I could tell this would be one of my better flights - first, she was not 300 pounds of coughing, filling-into-my-seat business man; second, we had a lot in common, third, no rings on her fingers. She was on her way back home to Wilmington after visiting family for Thanksgiving.
Halfway thru the 61 minute flight, I wondered why I had to meet her after 36 rides to Wilmington - and near the end of my time in the coastal city that I'd got bored of long ago.
Anyway, it was a bouncy flight. They could not do the normal snack service, as the kart was kept tied down due to the rough ride. So when they did their "Snack and Water" service - well, the flight attendant and I managed to spill water all over Shelly. This was awful, she and I were getting along so well. Such a mess... at least she didn't move to the empty seat across the aisle.
I do'nt remember much of the conversation after that - but apparently I pulled off a "save"; we landed just after 6pm and met for dinner at a local restaurant an hour later.
