It is just fantastic having a 38 inch monitor up on my desk. I had a extra flat screen TV just laying around doing nothing so it is now one of my monitors, it has taken computing up to another level.

On your desk? Wouldn't it be better on the wall in the next room? :rofl2

My desk is big enough and I have a 17 inch next to that

I like it!

I remember in the 80s our engineering department complained about having to use 12 inch monitors with their CAD programs. We've come a long way.

How's the resolution on it? I thought of doing the same thing, but the guy that builds my computers told me TVs don't have a high enough resolution to make good computer monitors. I always suspected he might be wrong about this...

Okay, you've got my attention.
I have a 39" tv I'd like to make into a computer monitor.
How do I do it?

Wow! I only have a 22" glass screen, and thought I was in 7th heaven.

Good idea. Yes, Lewis with the large screen for your desktop, it only shows our age as we get tired of these teeny-weeny smartphones and phablets and what not you need a magnifying glass to see even with supposed enlarged text. :lol Nothing like sitting and relaxing at the desktop computer big enough for those of us with older eyes can see. I hope they never go out, but these days you don't see much advertised larger than a notebook. Larger screens to this generation implies a smartTV instead of a desktop computer.

HDMI cable out from your computer into the HDMI "imput" .
Remember to Imput MENU adjust your TV to the HDMI IMPUT you've chosen as your imput for your PC.
Most big screen TVs have 2 or 3 HDMI imputs, so you have to choose #1 - #3., whichever one it is that is connected to your PC HDMI cable.
If you dont do this you get a blue screen until you choose the HDMI imput you choose for your PC.

cad a fancy word that means computer assisted stupidity

And if is a desktop without HDMI you have to use DVI cable and a cable from your sound card to the TV and you will be good to go. DVI's don't transfer sound. Now with a laptop all you need is a HDMI cable and set the laptop to mirror and that is it. And as for the picture quality I am getting a great picture on this LG TV
