To recap the testimony we have FOR the position that the gospel had been preached to the "inhabited earth" (oikoumene) before the fall of Jerusalem:
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Rom 10:18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world

Col 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
Col 1:6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

Col 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

{8} First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world [kosmos]. Romans 1:8 (NASB)

{19} "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, {20} teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NASB)

{46} and He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, {47}and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. Luke 24:46-47 (NASB)

{15} And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 (NASB)

{20} And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.] Mark 16:20 (NASB)

Tiberius, therefore, under whom the name of Christ was spread throughout the world, when this doctrine was announced to him from Palestine, where it first began...

How the Christian doctrine soon spread throughout the whole world.
Thus, then, under a celestial influence and co-operation, the doctrine of the Saviour, like the rays of the sun, quickly irradiated the whole world. Presently, in accordance with divine prophecy, the sound of his inspired evangelists and apostles had gone throughout all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. Throughout every city and village, like a replenished barn floor, churches were rapidly found abounding, and filled with members from every people.

Eusebius Pamphilus, The Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius Pamphilus, WORDsearch CROSS e-book, 51-52.

So we have the direct command of Christ to the disciples that they were to "go into all the world and preach the gospel." Did they take that command seriously, or were they content to live out their lives in Jerusalem, hoping that some future generation of followers would obey Him?

We have the testimony of Paul in several letters that this had happened, and we have the testimonies of both Tertullian and Eusebius that this had happened.

On the other hand, we have people - today - believing that none of this has yet occurred, and that those who do are "in error", "heretics" and are going to "burn in hell!"

Gee...I wonder if that means Paul and Eusebius are already in hell waiting for the rest of us who simply believe in TAKING CHRIST AT HIS WORD! :chin

Happy resurrection day! :thumbsup

Quite frankly, I'll go with the testimony of those who lived it over the vain speculation of people who didn't. (But that's just me. Your mileage may vary.) :couch

Greetings,

Thats was posted in another thread.

Whos Gospel ordained by God through the Lord Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit He promised are you getting His word from?

Is it not the epistles of Peter, Paul and all the rest He asked to do so?
Who's letters are you reading through Him?
Certianly the whole word is being given His words through those men are they not?

Grace to you, peace from God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
