It has been said that "god is omnipotent". He has all the power. Does that mean that I have none? Does that mean that I have no power of my own to make decisions, including my own actions?

Omnipotence means "all powerful," not "has all the power."Deavonreye said:It has been said that "god is omnipotent". He has all the power. Does that mean that I have none? Does that mean that I have no power of my own to make decisions, including my own actions?
Omnipotence means "all powerful," not "has all the power."
You didn't understand what I stated. Omnipotence and whether or not one has "all the power" are two different ideas. You and I having power has nothing to do with God's omnipotence.I think it would have to. If I have power, then it is power that god would not have. Thus, he could be ALL powerful. He would just be MOST powerful.

Ok, so call me slow.. I don't get it. Where does "dictate who is getting slapped at any specific time" fit in this?Stovebolts, . . . I'm not sure if your analogy can apply. Two individuals can have varying amounts of power, yet power [between two humans] doesn't dictate who is getting slapped at any specific time.
On the other hand, if someone is omnipotent, they have all the power. That would logically conclude that anyone that actually DOES have power, it was appointed to them by god for a specific purpose.
No, I understood what you stated, I just have a differing opinion on what it means to be "omnipotent".
He wasn't laughing at you, for the most part. ;) He made a funny. His point, and mine, is that you are redefining omnipotence. If you want to argue against God's omnipotence, then you must do so from the actual, widely accepted definition, otherwise this discussion is pointless.Hmmm.....so I'm being laughed at. . . . . Okay.
That reminds me of that old joke, the trouble with being omnipresent is, you have to sit through a lot of boring prayer meetings! As a side note, . . . if you're omnipresent, . . . . . what if you wanted leave a place you were at? :D
Anyway, I misunderstood a concept, so chose to bow out because of that.
