Turn The Other Cheek ?

Jesus is the Prince of Peace Isaiah 9:6 but He is not a pacifist.Read Revelation 19:15 and Matthew 10:34-36.
A day is coming of severe judgment upon this earth.

Did Jesus teach pacifism?

No. Jesus taught pacificism.

Not to be confused with pacifism.

Pacificism is the general ethical opposition to war or violence, except in cases where force is deemed absolutely necessary to advance the cause of peace.

Mat 5:9 JUB Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

Joh 2:15-16 JUB and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers' money and overthrew the tables (16) and said unto those that sold the doves, Take these things away from here; do not make my Father's house a house of merchandise.

Does Jesus mean' if a guy walked right up to you and started kicking the heck out of you. Should you just stand there and let him ?

I believe Jesus taught pacifism though many see it as pacificism.
The Bible teaches we need to leave room for God to protect us instead of just jumping in and saying, "I'll take care of this myself. I don't want to wait for God to do it".
This attitude is reflected in all walks of our lives.
How often do we step in and say, "I'll take care of this" instead of waiting on God?

I'd go nuts trying to figure out how to fix something instead of asking God to show me.
I'd do everything I knew to get healthy without asking God, "What should I do?".

When we are faced with trials of any kind, our first reaction usually is to take care of things ourselves.
Yet we know we should always put God first.

No. Jesus taught pacificism.

It's refreshing to read a post wherein someone has really done some thinking.

Thank you.

So if a dude walks up to you and punches you in the face' and he sees that you are not going to do anything so he starts to give you a royal beat down' then what are you going to do ? Just let him stomp the crap out of you with his construction worker boots on ?

To what degree are we to live peaceably with all men

Some members who claim pacificam here in these forums wont tolerate another's words without rebuttal .

sorry, you asked does Jesus teach pacifism, but to me, it sounds like you don't want to know what Jesus says to do, you already made up your mind. if Jesus does tell you to not resist evil, are you willing to ?

to op and #12, et al if applies....

many times another's words , if left un-rebutalled, might be mistaken for truth and cause ongoing harm in the lives of others as well as the speaker.
Jesus always spoke His Father's Word, and often it was (to 'modern' people unused to it) very hard and /or critical/harsh....
but Jesus never harmed anyone,
and told all of His disciples to be "as harmless as a dove".

All through history the guys that stopped murders were sinning? No one should do anything to help those poor folks in the middle east? One is walking in the park and sees a gang beating an old man smile and tell them Jesus loves you and walk on..

Now i will read the different reasons why not being passive in this or that case is justified

Jas_3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

the answer is far and will take time to reach.
the so-called 'poor folks' in the middle east (and other wars the last hundred years, btw),
is the white wash the us government gave (practically always gives) for going to war (i.e. "i.e. as if it is to protect someone or their rights")
but the us government doesn't (and hasn't) given a wit (doesn't care ever even a little) about the poor peoples rights - it's all white wash and outright lies. the wars have all been as it is written in Scipture something like - 'what is the cause of wars? this is it> you want something and cannot get it, so you go to war for it' (money, power, land .... etc etc ). "greed and lust".

reported on the news, 23 military members every day are committing suicide. more of all levels from private to generals are AWOL and not being prosecuted (the mil and gov are too embarrassed to admit how many are defecting). they say they signed up to go because they thought it was for a just cause, and when they got there,
they discovered it was all a lie, a sham, a deception, and a cover up. (not to help anyone there)

Romans 12:18
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men
I see an option here. "if it be possible" leaves an option open.
If a guy wants to verbally beat me up Its possible for me to walk away.
If a guy wants to physically beat me or family up then " its not possible"
