Using Windows 95 in 2013
Published on Oct 26, 2013

Windows 95 was revolutionary for its time, but can it be used in 2013? Find out here.

The tasks I got Windows 95 to preform:

1) file navigation PASS
2) write a text document PASS
3) access the internet - this did not work, see video
4) change the settings (background) HALF
5) make a password FAIL
6) play a windows 95 game called 'Hover' - this did not work, see video
7) view photos FAIL
8) view movie FAIL
9) play sound music HALF

Overall I gave Windows 95 a 3/7 for being usable in 2013 (I didn't count the ' this did not work, see video')

If you want to play hover in your browser go to www.hover.ie

This channel is about testing old Operating Systems to see if they can be used in modern times. What ancient systems can you think of, let me know and I might try them out.

Oh come on people' I know some of you are still using Windows 3.1, Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP.

yep, i think Linux is the best. DOS isn't too bad. (no body can hack DOS systems, or at least that's why a nationwide chain has used it until recently, maybe still but not sure..... ) MAC's are still the most stable and can(have for a decade plus) run windows software native (just as if on micromachine, and faster and more stable). (although with intel chips in macs now, things may be changing and not for the better....... oy veh! )

I kinda miss CP/M. My first business computer was a Xerox 820, with two 8 inch floppy drives (one megabyte each), and a green monitor.

Xerox built it the way they built copiers, lots of steel, expensive bearings, and built to take abuse. It never did die; the company wanted to scrap them, so I asked for one, took it home, and played with it for a few years, then gave it away.
