What A Tragedy

The sheriff said guns are rampant in the rural community.
rampənt (especially of something unwelcome or unpleasant) flourishing or spreading unchecked.
The gun was doing nothing just laying on a bed... ... Bad parenting is running rampant...

So very sad that 5 year old will be scared for life... I doubt with out the Lord he will ever be right..

Yes,it is tragic. It is becoming not so uncommon in our world now.

God has turned us over to reprobate minds. [Rom. 1:28] This state of mind is not exclusive to this and the last century but it has, progressively, grown to out of hand. I have not felt safe without a side arm or a shot gun since 1966 but when a parent has weapons they must be secured and empty when not in the parents hands or strapped the their bodies. This is a sad indicator of the spiritual condition of the world.

I think it is just non thinking careless people. Reprobate is a evil mind and also a mind of no return, and I can't say that this case is the result of the parents being of a Reprobate mind.

Maybe some sort of safety course. In my county, the sheriff requires people to take a training course before he will give them a license.

It is like the 2 year old in the news last week reaching in his mother's purse and shooting her. :sad

Common sense tells you that when you have children around, need I say more ?

Here is a true story, I guess around 1966 or 67 my little brother and I were playing in the basement, and my father had hidden a 38 revolver Smith & Wesson up in the ceiling and my little brother found it. We were looking up in it to see what was up there just being curious kids. Well any way my brother points the gun at me, not knowing that it was real, I took a look at the gun and could tell it was real and snatched it out of his hands before he pulled the trigger, he had it pointed right at my chest. I had to be about 11 but I could tell that the gun was heavy that was the first red flag the second was that I could see the bullets in the chamber. So I snatched it away from him. Now my brother who is almost 2 years younger thought it was a toy. Now supposed I had not snatched it away ?

I think the parent who left the gun lying around should be held legally responsible for the death of that child. And yes I do mean they should serve jail time. Maybe then people would wake up.

:eek2
My dad was a cop.He was in Vice.My mom told me that he would come home from work and leave his loaded gun sitting on the kitchen table not even thinking. My mom would have to put it up high and away from my brothers who were about 2 and 4 then.

Lewis Sheeesh we would not have our news reporter... :cries

Very good for all your family .. When some one we love hurts someone we love the pain is almost unbearable.. Good you had the right smarts at that age.to stop what could have been a tragedy ...:hug

Unsupervised children due to bad parenting is to blame for this. My house contains many guns and I babysit my nieces (2 1/2 and 6) several days a week and have been doing so since their births...and guess what? Nothing like this has ever occurred. And why? Because I properly supervise the kids as I should.

Also, it's quite obvious that the gun was in a place that can be easily (easily enough anyway) reached by a young child; another fail, and this time in gun ownership responsibility. And you can't simply rely on putting the gun up high somewhere where it cannot be 'reached' by a child. Lol...do not be fooled. Children are mischievous, and never, ever underestimate the power of satan to take advantage of that mischievousness.
