I believe it is safe to say to fulfil His Perfect Will. When Adam chose that sexy, beautiful, woman over God, an element of Fellowship was lost that God desired. It is always wise and, actually, a requirement to consider what God has seen to reveal to us about Himself when we seek to understand more.
In Genesis 1 we see the God Head proclaiming that man should be created in "their" image. Thus we need to examine man to find where we align with what is recorded in God's revelation of God's Self.
When I was in 'Nam I and every one of my men longed to re-establish a or some avenues of fellowship that, because of duty, had been, to a large extent, severed. And when we look at the events, immediately, following Adam's fall into sin, separating man from fellowship with God we see that God not only knew what had happened but God also jad a plan in place when He said the heal of the seed of Woman would crush the head of the serpent.
I see that God does not so much need man so much but rather desires our fellowship, our love.

It's because God is love, and understands that apart from Him we will never have the type of fulfillment that He wills for us. We are made in His image, He truly knows us and loves us, and when we are on a path which leads to death He hurts for us, just as earthly parents hurt for their child when they are doing the wrong things despite good counsel and warnings.
As you said, He is whole in Himself. He does not need for anything, but He does desire for us our most perfect and holy lives, and has given us the free will and the grace to walk therein, otherwise it would not be true love. It isn't forced.

Ok so far we have to (fulfill his perfect will) and also (it's his desire for us to love him)
I have to agree with the later, desire.
But does desire ever need anything or does it only need to give.

Desire is one of the most widely and misused words of the English dialect. My family and I have always given, with open hands and open pocket books because we desire none to go to Hell and this in the midst of sponges that soak up resources but never yield a return. Often we have been chastised by members and leaders of the Church.
In other instances, mention desire and you are immediately considered to be speaking of the unspeakable. The preceding paragraph, I am certain, is closer to God's desire.

Your asking the Wrong question. God does not need our love, He needs us to allow His Love, He taught, and put in our heart to grow stronger and shine fourth with more and more understanding, for God is Love.

Our Love will Kill someone, Hide the body to collect insurance to pay off a debt, and only lasted as long as the person had benefit to us.

If you are going to stick to that as if it is set in stone you might need to study more and to do specific, practical, life examples. You and I can save none but God does as God will and if your bank account does not belong to God and then you you should ask yourself who you depend on.
