Eternal life is to know God (John 17:3). To know Him and love Him is to obey His commandments (1John 2:3: John 14:15; 1John 2:5); and whoever says he lives in God will live just as Jesus Christ did (1John 2:6). To know God is different, from to know of Him. Even the devil knows of Him. To know Him is to be His friend (John 15:15). We must therefore remove everything that is an obstacle to our friendship with Him-which is sin. We must, therefore, repent for our sins (Luke 24:47). To repent we must be sincerely sorry for betraying God’s infinite goodness, and firmly resolve with the help of His grace to never sin again (John 8:11). It is, therefore, to start a new life. We will, therefore, remove our self from sinful situations in life and restore relationships which we have damaged by our sins. To be His friend we must also know everything about Him and have faith in it. We must therefore internalize His infinite act of love for us (in which He sacrificed His life for our sins, although we were unfaithful to Him) and love one another as He loved us (John 15:12).

I believe the Lord reveals himself to us over a period of time. I suppose the process is quicker if we remember daily to love him with all our hearts, souls, and minds.

Please note that I am not this other Elijah! ;)
But to Know Christ surely is the Motive required at the starting point! John 3:3

Matt. 6 has just [two choices] separating the Saved from the Lost when Christ comes again:
[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye [cannot serve God and mammon.]

Then it is [Documented] who these Saved Ones are as contrasted from the Eternally Lost Ones! Inspiration has it clearly stated in 1 John 2
[3] And hereby we do know that we know (LOVE) him, if we keep his commandments.
[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, [is a liar, and the truth is not in him.]

In Isaiah 8:20 we see more 'Inspired' Documentation of who will be Saved in contrast of who will be lost. But be sure to note the above Inspiration of the 'wordings LIAR'. Isaiah puts it this way...
[20] To the law [and] to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is [no light in them].

Violating the Godhead's Eternal Commandments from 1John 2:4 has the Lost as Liars, and signaled out, and here we see Law used along with the Testimony part with NO LIGHT in them! And if these ones had 'known God'? they surely are now past/tense! Heb. 6:6 :crying

Just an extra thought here for you.
God Himself first Spake & then PENNED the Eternal 10 Commandment Covenant in tables of stone Himself, and then re/created them in the Born Again heart & Mind! (2 Cor. 3:3) This was the only part of the Bible that God Himself wrote to us individually! And all 66 Books of the Bible are the 'TESTIMONY' of Christ's Word as Inspired by the Holy Spirit to Holy Men. This is the testimony part of the verse. ( 2 Peter 1:20-21) And also note that it takes ALL Their Testimony to get the [perfect] outcome, as in our court system! (2 Tim. 3:16 + *Matt. 4:4)

And surely God makes us 'see' this Concluded fact CLEARLY DOCUMENTED in the Ending of ones FULL MATURITY in Rev. 12:17.. (But TAKE NOTE OF THE [TWO IDENTIFYING TRUTHS!] Even compare Eccl. 12:13-14

[17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, (Virgin Fold) and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
(When Christ came the First Time it was the Matt. 10:5-6 message Lovingly accepted that found the extended Church of His of Acts, who left the ibid. 15 ones as it is in Rev. 3!)

Again for the 'dense' The ones Eternally to be saved will keep the Godheads Eternal Covenant! (all of it! James 2:8-12.. Their 7th Day Sabbath Included! They [KNOW] THE GODHEAD!) And they will have the Total Testimony of Jesus Christ! And that means from ETERNITY as far as He has revealed it to us! (war in heaven +)
