Very few Christians have any desire to live in this way, their entire being given over to God for His purposes. It's amazing how they still believe that they have something good going on with God anyway. What they don't seem to understand is that Romans 12:1 isn't a suggestion but a command. No one who wants anything deep and real with God can have it without first yielding themselves to God as a "living sacrifice," a "vessel sanctified and meet for the Master's use." Being such a sacrifice is, as Paul said, "reasonable" in light of the fact that "from Him and through Him and to Him are all things" (Romans 11:36). And so, God commands us to submit ourselves daily and wholly to Him, not to our hurt, but to be used in the way He made us to be used and thus finding our greatest fulfillment and meaning in life.

I sure am glad it is possible to do so.
