Mark 10:17-18
17 As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,†he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?â€
18 “Why do you call me good?†Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone./ (NIV)
This is Jesus talking. He said that no one is good-except God alone. This same man who lived a perfectly sinless life, and undoubtedly knew it...infers that he is not in comparison to the Father. The amount of humility and humbleness of heart that is expressed here is staggering.
The only thing I don't get is that it can not be a lie, and yet Jesus was sinless. So what am I missing here? Is it the fact that Jesus descended to be a man, and the nature of man is sin? Of course Jesus overcame the sin through the power of God, in which all things are possible...and the Father has never been so low?
