Jesus said that he must go so that the Holy Spirit would come. When he comes he will convict/convince the world of its sin, this sin is unbelief in him.

When he started his ministry Jesus said "repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. My understanding of repentance in this context is that Jesus is saying "Change your mind towards God with a view to inward change towards God and man" in fact my understanding of repentance is this view full stop.

So if tomorrow I get angry at someone is that sin? If I steal tomorrow is that sin? I know this is wrong but can it be called sin?

In the Lord's Prayer we are taught to ask God to forgive us of our sins. If sin is unbelief and we believe why ask for forgiveness.

Everything done without faith is a sin, if we do something without faith what is the sin?

Sorry if this sounds a dumb question, I have always been taught that sin is purely doing something wrong, that is sin and that is something you need to confess to be forgiven.

Thanks

Bill

Sin is described in the N.T. in 3 primary ways.

A. Sin is transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
B. Sin is anything that is not of faith. Romans 14:23
C. Sin is demonic or "of the devil." 1 John 3:8

Sin is summed up in two.

1. Ignore and/or dislike God with all your heart mind and soul.

2. Dislike your neighbour, but love yourself.
