What is the cause of racism?

Its human nature to find a reason to hate. If its not over differences in race, its over differences in religion, politics, nationality or sex. Basically anything that makes you different to your neighbour.

I think there is a lot of fear involved in racism. If you listen to what some racist individuals say about other races, you'll hear statements of fear cloaked in anger. The question is: Why do we fear that which is different from us?

In every culture there are certain groups of people who just plain believe they are better than others that are different from them.
They're all wrong. :-)

Growing up in apartheid in South africa, as a white South African, teaches us a lot about racism and its roots. Racism starts with greed. The greed of one skin color or culture to be more powerful and own more than another. And it works both ways. Even the christian faith in South Africa was divided by color. Churches became instruments to promote racism and segregation. I grew up believing apartheid was protecting the white South Africans from being killed and destroyed from an African Culture that would never accept us. It took accepting that we are all equal and that that we needed to take that chance to be accepted (which we were). FEAR was our biggest enemy in this country. Dislike for anothers culture and the FEAR of being forced to adhere to that cuture also causes racialistic behaviour. What we should be looking at is the cure for racism. It was only when I started having friendships with other people of other races that I started to understand that we are the same. The solution to racism and other prejudices is to not see yourself as superiour to anyone else no matter what your position in your community, your race, your age and your gender. If you have racialistic feelings towards another learn to know the other race better and ask God to show you how to overcome your feelings. Racism is a sin against God. Pray for forgiveness.

Hatred and a feeling of being superior over others. Being deluded into believing that God hates certain nationalities and that "white" people are better than anyone else. That is the work of Satan to produce hate and not love.
