What is Your Gift from God?

Cool link. My results were strong for Teaching, Exhortation, Pastor/Shepherd in that order. Which, is pretty consistant with the results of similar tests.

Everyone has spiritual gifts. If one is unsure of just how one is gifted by the Spirit or how to use the gifts of the Spirit, this type of 'test' can be helpful.

Mmmm, not real questions of establishing your Spiritual Gift. Far too many holes, and the last page was the best gimmick I've ever come across.

The questions asked, wouldn't really establish your Spiritual Gift whatsoever.

Where did it give Prophecy, being a pastor, Teaching, Wisdom, Knowledge, Exhortation, Discerning of Spirits, Giving (YES!), Helps (Mmmm), Mercy (Mmmm), Missionary (Mmmm), Evanglist (???), Hospitality (Maybe), Faith (Mmmm), Leadership (???), Administration (???), Miracles, Healing, Tongues, Interpreation, and many more.

Sorry, if I appear to be a thorn, but that wasn't a Spiritual Gift Questionair.

Actually, the best one that I came across was Finding Your Spiritual Gifts by Peter Wagner, but it still had many holes in it.

Sorry, I give that site 4 out 10.

Sure, there will be 'holes' in 'tests' like these. But, sometimes they are helpful in seeing one's area of giftedness. I used to really struggle with exactly how I was gifted by the Spirit and how to use those gifts for the Spirit and the Body. Then we had a similiar 'test' as a part of a Sunday School class on the gifts of the Spirit. Just discovering how I am gifted went a long ways towards figuring out how to use the gifts I had. I might have struggled with this more than others because I know a lot of very gifted and talented people who have done some pretty incredible things for God. Me, not so much, but nonetheless, there are things the Spirit calls me to do, and He has indeed equipped me to do them.

There was a different site that covered more of the gifts such as missionary and hospitality (and didn't have plug for newsletters and such at the end), but I don't have the link anymore.

I'm so glad you took the test!! Your reply, saying your results were consistent with the results of similar tests, was good to hear. After reading the descriptions of your gifts, you were
in agreement with the traits, you could see them in yourself, and in how your gifts are recieved by others.

After Jesus gives us gifts, we are drawn to that area all the time, when we're walking closely with Jesus. This test tells us WHERE God needs us, in the body of Christ.

Exactly right! The Holy Ghost calls us to do certain works, after we're saved, and it's a great reinforcement, a good tool to use, to let us be more sure.

My gifts are ones which make me "not so popular" with other Christians, but, that's ok.
God gave them to me, and I use them for Him.
True Christians are familiar with not being popular with the rest of the world. We're to rejoice when we are rejected.

GREAT!! What marvelous, complimentary gifts God has given you!
Isn't it amazing how all these gifts intertwine?

malachi, what are you talking about??
ONLY YOUR RESULTS are what shows up. Right?

Hold on, let me take the test again....

OK, here's my number one gift: prophecy.
I am VERY familiar with this gift, and how it affects others.

The results of your Spiritual Gifts Inventory indicate that your number one dominant gift is PROPHECY! That does not mean you are supposed to have visions of the future. It means you are a "forthteller," telling or "speaking forth" the mind of God: preaching, speaking, and teaching God's Word. You are very discerning; one who points out sin with the goal of making Christians aware of sin in their lives so they will repent. A prophet in full-time Christian service is usually a "hell-fire, brimstone preacher." You have the Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by proclaiming His truth.

As a prophet you have an ability to see that which is wrong. In fact, you tend to easily spot what is wrong and have to look to find something right. You probably spend much time praying and even weeping over the sins of the church and for lost sinners. You have a great burden over the sinful condition of the world around you. Because of this, you take every opportunity to proclaim that everyone must repent or perish.

You have a strong sense of duty and are very opinionated, impatient, and likely more depressed or serious than lighthearted about life. You enjoy being alone, but would rather be in a group than relate to people one-on-one. You desire to speak publicly. You are able to make quick decisions and want things done right. You do not like in-depth study.

Other people may think you are demanding, that you enjoy hurting people's feelings, and that you have no understanding. One of your greatest challenges is to keep a spirit of love. Remember to "speak the truth in love" (Eph. 4:15) and not to be judgmental. If you keep a tender, loving heart, you will be a blessing in your home, church, and to individuals. You can make a real impact on their spirituality. Be careful to let the Holy Spirit convict people, rather than trying to convict them yourself. Work on being a little more positive, patient, and tactful.

Beware of Satan's attack on your gift. He may try to cause a lack of compassion and forgiveness, bring discouragement because of unrepentant attitudes by others, entice you to fall into the very sins you speak against or cause pride and self-righteousness over lack of certain sins.

HOW CAN YOU USE YOUR DOMINANT GIFT? There are several avenues in which to carry out the gift of prophecy. Revival speaking is certainly a fitting ministry. You can pastor well IF you have a secondary gift of pastor/shepherd. You are a great help in problem-solving for a church with a sin problem. You could also serve in teaching on Gospel teams, in prison ministry, in migrant ministry, and in counseling to help bring awareness of sin in a person's life. You could speak at conferences and retreats.

asceticism? celibacy? ending up with a big bank account?

Well, I don't think you'd recognize it from some of my past posts in Apologetics, but...

Your dominant gifts are
1. Showing Mercy,
2. Administration,
3. Pastor/Shepherd

The results of your Spiritual Gifts Inventory indicate that your number one dominant gift is MERCY SHOWING! The Greek word "ellco" means to feel sympathy with or for others. As a mercy-shower you have the Spirit-given capacity and desire to serve God by identifying with and comforting those who are in distress. You understand and comfort your fellow Christian. You enter into the grief or happiness of others and have the ability to show empathy which is to feel WITH others, not just for others.

As a mercy-shower you are willing to deal with and minister to people who have needs that most people feel very uncomfortable working with. You seem to say the right thing at the right time. Your personality is likely one of soft-spoken love. It hurts you to scold someone; you are very non-condemning. People love you because of all the love you give them. You find it easy to express yourself and are outgoing with a low-key, inoffensive personality. You are easy to talk to, responsive to people, a good listener, peaceable, and agreeable. You tend to make decisions based on feelings more than fact and like to think about things for a while before making a decision.

Actually, I think it fits my personality to a tee

It's almost funny (Gift #3), I speak in front of our congregation at least once a month as Table Speaker (Something we do each week before we partake of the Lord's Supper) and many have come up to me afterwords telling me that I should be a pastor! I just kinda push is off because I get so nervous when I'm in front of people, inside, I'm just a wreck until I get to talking and the Holy Spirit guides my words and gives me that inner calm.

That's a neat link "biblereader"

My gift from God is definitely my FAMILY!

The test was realy good it so to speak hit the nail right on...my highest was in showing mercy ...I have worked and still do take care of the elderly and sick . I hate to see others who are alone , sick , or depressed.

The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.

Wow, long quiz, but worth it.

Apparently my strongest gifts are:
-Exhortation
-Prophecy

That's great that you've put yourself in the position to directly help those in need. Like yourself, I also hate to see those that are are sick, alone or depressed. Yesterday I went to McDonalds for breakfast and a transit asked me to buy him breakfast. I didn't have a problem doing that, as well as tossing him a couple bucks, but I was kind of disapointed he wouldn't sit down and eat with me.

Last winter (and the winter before) I had to go downtown Detroit several times, and what hurt me the most was when I'd walk by a homeless man sleeping on cardboard over the drain covers trying to stay warm from the steam coming up. I swear, if I won the lottery, I'd purchase one of the many vacant buildings in downtown detroit and turn it into a huge homelss shelter and I'd personally go out and bring these folks in if they would come.

Stovebolts,
I think that you are truly remarkable . I like the fact that you do for others and wish to do so much more. I know how you feel , I have always thought if I just had enough money to help those who have no home ..It's truly sad that this is even an issue in a country as advanced as ours is .
