If I may suggest - it would be persecution.

In the West - church has become 'comfortable'. I would suggest that under times of duress and persecution the Chruch 'thrives'.

I believe there is a more 'real' understanding of what the church is supposed to be about - rather than the number of day cares, pre-schools, do they use drums or not in worship, what fun activities to they do, etc etc.

In the West we tend to live IN church, not liveout church.
