"Now what I want is facts!. Teach these boys and girls nothing else but facts! Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else and root out everything else. You can only form the minds of reasoning animals upon Facts: nothing else will ever be of any service to them"
( Hard Times Charles Dickens)

So starts the book by Dickens . One i enjoyed immensely. But it does beg the question, what is an ideal education?
Was he so far off base? (the teacher, Mr Gradgrind). it was the 19th Century. Now in the 21st century, have we really progressed. Do kids really get a better education now?

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 KJV

And many parents are choosing home schooling. Christian parents as well.
Fearing their kids will slide into atheistic apathy? I suspect some high school teachers might be presenting their own political view as fact in teaching subjects such as History and Social Science.

I think an ideal education is getting teachers who love their subject.
I remember I had an Australian Literature teacher. He introduced me to books that I learnt to love. Quoting some passages he taught us the varying styles of writers .
If teachers can motivate you, you are half way there. Motivation and confidence. Yes this is interesting and yes I understand it.
Your quality of life after school is increased by motivational teachers.

re the book Hard Times and Dickens writing style:
if there was any writer I would like to emulate it is Dickens. His razor sharp wit and caricaturing is just awesome. There are so many jokes in this book, it is hard to read fast. just when you recover from one hyperbole, he starts another. as aussies say "its chockers!"

The ideal education is one that puts its focus first and foremost on God and loving Him. Everything else is secondary.
