I feel like i want to post this as something has always held me back from churches.

I really just want to know what the point and meaning is and why you maybe go. I ask this in good faith and don't want debate.

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(Heb 10:24-25)

1Co_11:18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
1Co_11:20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
1Co_11:33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
1Co_14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not

What good is a Pastor?
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
(Eph 4:11-12)

Fellowship:
We know a lot of folks at church, often we visit in a family fellowship at a home, spend 30 mins after church talking, invite some over.

Just a couple questions. Im not hear to put down churches i.just have never understood the point of it or how its anything biblical they way they run.

There is no scripture saying for you to be concerned on how a church is run. I did post a scripture where your told not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together as some have done in disobedience.

I also Posted Scripture that the Holy Spirit through Paul assumes that "WHEN" ye come together, not if or when you get around to it.

I got to church Friday night and Sunday morning, sometimes I go to Healing School through the week as there are believers gathering together. It seems a little much sometimes and I don't really feel like getting out and going.
However, I do Have it written in the Word of God I am not to forsake my Brothers and Sisters, I am to gather with them. Since Jesus is My Lord, then I don't violate the scriptures I know.

If you have a Lord, then you obey them. There are many who say they are believers out there, but Jesus is not Lord, His Word is not first place in their life. That is going to be a big issue when they need a prayer answered, and they can't figure out why God is not helping them.

Even worse, a very big problem for them once the books are opened.

I have decided that the day i go to church (again) will be the day any two church pastors understanding of the book of revelation match perfectly.

Now thats a good one.

But do YOU follow God? Because as has been pointed out, this is not what God told us in his word.

Dear Brother kiwidan, I don’t know about the churches you have attended, but when I go I normally hear something pertinent to my life and situation. How can that be?

Can we restrict the Holy Spirit delivering something to us in the manner we desire? I am thinking of the way God had the message He wanted told to the seven churches in Asia.

There was order in the dispersion of the word.
Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him (Jesus), to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel ( messenger – Rev 19:10) unto his servant John:
Rev 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia. Rev 2:1 Unto the angel (Pastor, messenger, or star Rev 1:20 ) of the church of Ephesus write:

Dan, we do have the word of this Revelation, but what of future messages to us personally? I remember a friend and teacher of the word telling of a woman coming to him after he preached a message and telling him that that was especially meant for her, and then said he didn’t doubt it even though he wasn’t aware of it at the time.

Lastly I will just ask why Jesus may have had Paul write the following?
Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Sometimes. Im not a perfect walker in faith. But then again God says dont be deceived so if a pastor cant get his prophecy right and is teaching false revelation to the church then he is wolf.

As for a typical Sunday morning Worship service, I go to worship God.
...

1. People go to church to learn more.
Why does one need to go to church and listen to a man talk scripture when you have your own bible to read the exact same and have faith in the Holy Spirit to help guide you to understand it. Why do you need a pastor when you are already a christian?
As I said, I go to worship. The sermon, while hopefully educational, is superfluous for me. I go to Bible Study to learn, which may be held in the church building, but is different from the worship service. But I agree, in too many churches there is far to much importance put on the sermon and far to little on actual worship. I prefer those much more into worship.
2. Fellowship
Now correct me if I'm wrong but please tell me when you go to church how much of that time you are having fellowship with other people. You look forward at the pastor. You look forward to the music. You don't go to church to fellowship and socialize with other Christians because you don't talk to them the whole service. Maybe after. How many people can you name?. What % do you know?
The last church I was at a typical Sunday morning started out about an hour before the start of the formal worship service with people drifting in to sit around on comfortable chairs and sofas arranged much like someone's living room would be arranged, having refreshments and visiting. Right after the formal worship service, everyone stayed for a couple more hours having a complete meal while fellowshipping some more. No one left hungry for either food, fellowship, or worship! And yes, I knew 100% of the people's names.

...Do people need to worship God with other people? Is that the reason? I mean I understand if that's the way and what people enjoy.
Yes. It is an instruction given to us in scripture as noted above. "Do not forsake the fellowship of the saints".

Pastors are not God. They are not perfect. It seems to me that if you are focusing only on a pastor's interpretation of the book of Revelation (a book that I seriously doubt any of us understands completely) instead of on worshiping God, your focus is in the wrong place. I agree, if the pastor's sermon is so distracting to you that you can't focus on worshiping God in a particular church, you have to do one of two things. Either you have to find another church, or you have to re-evaluate your focus and not be so concerned with this one particular area. Once again, no pastor, no church, and no congregation is perfect. This is no reason to go against scripture given by God by forsaking fellowship.

1.
I honestly feel like I learn more on my own than I do from church...overall. I like to look at stuff from an academic perspective, at least serious stuff, and church doesn't really do that very much?
That said, if I didn't go to church, then I would not be motivated to study on my own very much...I don't do it enough as it is. And others really do have good insights I may not, so it's good to hear from them, too. God sometimes speaks through others, too. Many times it's been at church or a few years back the youth Bible study I used to attend that I heard something that I drew a lot of strength and encouragement from, or that was brought to my attention through someone else.

2.
I'm an introvert, I tend not to talk with people who don't talk to me and I don't generally feel the need to seek out company. I do know some of the people there, those from the youth group since I used to be in it and am now a "youth leader". (Only in name, IMO. I just show up to all the youth stuff and help in the background. I'm a helper, not a leader.) I also know people who I have worked with in various activities at church, and I've made a couple new friends since the beginning of the year. People I am regularly speaking to and sharing things with.
I do tend to feel guilty about not talking to others I don't yet know more, but it really does not come natural to me. I do try to talk to people if I notice something. There was this girl in the youth group months ago who was new and I tried to make sure she felt welcome and talked to her.

On fellowship overall, I do really enjoy the feeling of togetherness and support. We're all brothers and sisters in Christ and we have each other's back, y'know? I like that.

Another thing about church? I like being presented with more opportunities to get involved in ministry, outreach, or just something helpful.

Until, recently, I was faithful t0 be in service for a couple of reasons. Number one would be to feed on the Word with others of similar and some of dissimilar mind. The most precious to me is Corporate Worship.

(reasoning) Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. (Matt. 10:7) I find that Kingdom is some, not every, but some churches and it is there I wish I were this morning.
