We've all had them from loved ones, or have given them to others. What's your worst?

Tim: if Caroline post's here then i advise you to cover your eyes :D we men are ussualy terrible at choosing gifts. I am an exception to that rule, of course :halo

Ha, what a good idea for a thread. For the most part, I've had good presents. But the worst...

In order to understand why this present was so bad, you have to understand a bit of what I look like. I've a serious height deficiency with a bit of a weight surplus. So, my worst Christmas present ever had to be the very, very bulky turtlenecked, shaker knit sweater with a pattern of, you guessed it, 4 inch wide horizontal stripes. Made me look like fat turtle that had escaped prison. To make matters worse, the person who gave it to me was a co-worker of mine who, not only had excellent taste in clothing herself, but was also quite tall, around 5'10 or so and quite slim.

I've always wondered if she did it on purpose. :confused

Oh my goodness Dora, I'm laughing so hard....

OK the worse present I ever got, matter of fact was last year....my mother-in-law gave me a pair of her pants, she's "short" like Dora!!! :lol Sorry girlfriend I couldn't resist that.... the :devil made me do it! Anyway, I'm 6'1" and gives me these pants for Christmass that obviously are hers, smell like mothballs, polyester YUK! Well here's the thing, I kept them, not because I like them cause I can wear them, but the thought of her heart when she gave them to me is what I like about them. Her money was tight, my father-in-law had just died, and I know she was emotionally having a hard time, finances tied up, and just the thought that she thought about me was enough.....so yes I kept them for that reason alone. They may be up in the attic in a keep sake box, but I kept them cause I know her heart when she gave them to me. Then my husband asked me, mom wants to know do you like the pants, this is one of those times you are tested about speaking the truth. And I told him yes I like the pants and quickly left the room before I could be asked if they fit. And praise God that question never arised.

All I wanted for Christmas once when I was young was my two front teeth; instead, the dentist pulled four of my other teeth to make room for growth and braces. :bigfrown

:lol

Ouch!!! Better you than me, but praise God I still got all my teeth! So I at least don't have to look for a partial under the tree for me!!! Man that would be scarey, I would have to look to make sure that one didn't come from my mother-in-law! :toofunny

i cant believe she gave u a pair of her shorts still. I can understand maybe a shirt, but not shorts. Anyways when I was young, we had to do white elephant at school. So I tell my dad to get me a present to give the next day at the party at school. He comes back home with a miniature flashlight for a 4th grade kid. When the kid got his present, I felt so embarassed.

I must say that my dad is an excellent gift giver. One time I saw this hand-made necklace at a craft show and told him that I thought it was pretty and walked away. He quickly excused himself to "go to the bathroom." Well, 7 months later at my birthday, he gives me this necklace. It's still one of my favorites.

But anyway, my dad's really good at giving gifts, but his wife...not so much. She is the one in the household who makes all the decisions, including what to give for gifts. Two Christmases ago I got this basket of home-made jam. The problem was, I don't eat jam and that was something my dad always tried to get me to eat when I was younger. I was a little miffed because there was no thought behind the gift. Normally I couldn't care less how much the gift cost, since it's the thought that counts.

:lol that was funny Ephesus, her short pants being shorts on me!! Well her legs are pretty short, being I'm 6'1" and she's about 5'2".....OK they're shorts! :clap

I do not have too many presents I remember as being bad. I guess the worst gift might have been the Madden 2005 for PS2 when I only had a PS1. We never had bank breaking Christmases, but I do not remember anything ever being bad.

I got soap-on-a-rope one year from my grandma... That was interesting ;)
