I call it idiotic, since there is no known information as to what the tarot cards were ever intended to be used for.

There is history, and the cards where used in games much like bridge today. It was not until the 1800's that the cards where modified and used for divination. Cards the tell the future make more money than cards that don't. There is no evidence the cards were used for divination until the 1800's.
