I know, we ought to repent as soon as we are aware of our sins, but should I be repenting daily? Like, what if I cannot think of a single instance that I sinned? Can I just pray for a general cleansing/repentance? Something like

"God, forgive me for my sins today. In Jesus Name, Amen."

For example, today I cannot think of a time when I sinned, but I had a busy day. English, math, philosophy. Lots of going to and from class and lots of reading and class time. I have had some temptations pop into my head, but they never manifested as sin.

So should I repent just in case I did sin and cannot recall or was never aware of the sin?

Not necessarily. I can believe that you didn't sin today. Can you?

No I believe that I can go without sinning...

But what if I did sin and I just am not aware that I did?

I agree with watchman, we can ask God to forgive sin that is unknown, and even to reveal it to us so that we can learn to stop doing it.

Jesus taught us how to pray...

In this manner, therefore pray ye, 'Our Father which art in Heaven...forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

David prayed, 'Create in me a clean heart..."

I am not trying to be rash or harsh here, but I think you might be missing the point.

There are going to be times when you sin and you are not aware of it at the moment. BUT the Spirit that dwells in you WILL convict you of sin. You should not worry that there is sin in your life that is "un-confessed" and you have no clue about it. That is NOT Biblical. 1John tells us that a born again believer CANNOT continue to live in sin, why?

"No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God". ESV 1John 3:9

Here is the point. God's Seed, the Holy Spirit lives in you if you have been born of God. He teaches you, trains you, and leads you. You are NOT in this alone. Its not you all by yourself, having to come before a Holy God on your own merit at the end of each day. He said "I will never leave you..."

So, rejoice in the Lord. When sin does come to your mind, confess it. There is absolutely no reason to think that you will EVER have sin that God is angry with you about that you have no clue of. Any sin that would separate fellowship with God in your life is going to be something that you know.

Does it hurt to ask forgiveness? God wants you to live a life of faith. Part of our maturing in Christ is knowing, believing, that God is the one who leads us now. So if you are constantly worried about doing the wrong thing, without even knowing about it, then there might be two reasons for it:

#1. He is trying to lead you in a direction and you are not wanting to follow, therefore you do not have the assurance that He will let you know of sin in your life?

#2. You do know of something deep down that is eating at you that He is leading you from and you might be looking for other things that are wrong to forget about it?

Either way, and I am by no means perfect in my examples, you need to trust that He is in control, and He loves you.

"Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our hear before Him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows all everything". ESV 1John 3:18-20

Rest easy. Pray often. Love with out end. You WILL know when there is sin that needs to be confessed, when you know about it CONFESS it. There is one who stands before the throne of God DAY AND NIGHT constantly making intersession for YOU!!! He will never turn you away when you come to Him openly and truthfully.
