Because this is a christian forum, and to know who the son of God is, is important into obtaining salvation. The son of God is Jesus Christ, and the only way to God is through Jesus Christ alone.

The firstborn of all creation.

Maybe that's why Yahweh made the human family. If I have a son, he's just like me, and in the very image. And we are one in that we are both people, separate, but one in kind.

People ought to learn God's name --- as that is more personal. His name is Yahweh. God, on the other hand can be thought of like a species, such as a "cat" and is generic (or referencing a family), but I had my favorite was Panther (only one of him). I get uncomfortable when people pray and address "God". Likewise, there's many cats, only one Panther. If I had a second one that was his offspring, Leon, that would be another cat. But Panther is not Leon, nor is Leon Panther, and Panther is first, the boss. Right now there's two, but a family can increase in size! :D

I was always told it is Jesus, the one born from the virgin Mary. I didn't know that there was really any disagreement about this on this website.

Yes, He is. There is no disagreement as far as I know. We are just stating who He is, His names, and some would fit by what He does and has does.
