Malachi 3:
16 - Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another,
and the Lord listened and heard them;
so a book of remembrance was written before Him
for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.
17 - “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts,
“on the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them
as a man spares his own son who serves him.”
18 - Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked,
between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.
Malachi 4:
1 - “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven,
and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.
And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”
says the Lord of hosts, “that will leave them neither root nor branch.
Please note:
God will miraculously protect His special jewels during that horrendous Day!
Notice that the righteous are NOT those who have automatically
taken on the righteousness of Christ when they were born-again.
They are righteous in the sight of God for other reasons.
And there are also several NT verses which prove this.
2 Peter 3:
10 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens
will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat;
both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
11 - Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved,
what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
12 - looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God,
because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire,
and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
13 - Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for
new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
14 - Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things,
be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless …
