In another thread, I asked about the diversity that has proliferated on the earth. Now I ask about the Other Side, the Afterlife, and it's Why the Duality?
To explain, as I've mentioned from time-to-time, I have a habit of studying Near-Death Experiences. One thing that strikes me is how the reports seem to group themselves into 2 discrete categories: a tradtional, Scriptually-compliant version of the universe, with our Savior Jesus, the heavenly Father, a horrific Hell for non-believers and sinners, a blissful Heaven for true believers who repent and forgive. Jesus is strong and authoritative, stern but kind also.
Contrast that with the alternate "New Age" account that others report back: no judgment per se, just progress reports on one's spiritual development, usually a heaven but no hell, no sins, but "mistakes" that we are to work on, and when is that, why it's during your successive lifetimes as you reincarnate over and over until you "learn your lessons". There isn't any one, true religion, but many paths up the same mountain. The New Age Jesus is kindler, gentler, not so much judgmental.
So why such disparate and downright contradictory cosmological architectures? Is the second version, the New Age model, simply an elaborate Satanic lie cooked up by the ultimate Evil One? Should we just focus on the Bible and just block out Satan's evil but elaborate network of deception?
Or is there some other explanation for two completely universes, unresolvable in their differences? (This one actually keeps me at night).
