Who would WANT it? Microsoft ALWAYS releases inferior, untested OS's, expecting the public to do the testing for them.

I eyeballed the article and to tell the truth, they are trying to catchup with the popular Cinnamon Desktop for Ubuntu. And virtual desktops? Linux has been running multiple desktops in the Ubuntu and other popular OSs for years, up to twenty of them at the same time on 32 or 64 bit systems. The linux kernel caught up to my new integrated A5000 AMD and no longer must run windoze 8.1, can I say Praise God?

Mary Jane Foley, one top notch tech asked the Redford Team why they didn't plug the DOS hole in their kernel a couple of years back and was told something to the effect of, how would we get into the computers from the web if we do that? Duuuuuhhhh! Between the built in, MS and NSA approved, root kit you cannot remove, they should not need the DOS door everybody uses to attack from the web with anyway.

And people wonder why I love Linux distros. I haven't defragged or done weekly scheduled anti-spyware and antivirus scans since '06.

Don't forget that most software companies pay people to test and debug their software, but Microsoft gets people to pay them to test it.

I used to, before Linux, Alpha and Beta test for them and never received one dime nor any free software that any other person could not have downloaded for free.

I wonder if they'll try to have a cute BSOD in Windows 9 like they did in Windows 8.

Somehow, having a smiley doesn't make it better.

TOG,
You're a die hard Linux convert. You have become entirely too accustomed to things working!

I'm afraid you're right. I get very irritated at work (where I not only use Windows, but help others use it), when things don't work the way they're supposed to.

An Interim Pastor friend of mine is a company Chief IT that was dragged kicking and screaming into the Windows world and His Desktop runs Linux, much to the dislike of his employer. Of course he is no longer an Elder Pastor because he is to much like Bill Taylor and he, also, will tell people to go home and put their Big Boy Panties on. I can't imagine why he is not recalled to the Pastorate on a full time basis, can you? :shame

I have no idea.

Well... come to think of it, I might have an idea. If you're going to be a full time pastor, it's probably not a good idea to question what is politically correct in your denomination. From reading your posts, I get the feeling that you're not a person who just accepts things without questioning them. You think independently. I don't think they want independent thinkers.

Yeah, I, suspect your right. His first name is Billy and for some reason, even in the military, people did not like the idea that i thought they needed to remove the girly underwear and to put on their Big Boy Panties. It seems that most people naming the name of Christ feel the same way. And the PC crowd are a contentious bunch... sort of like Windows Techs.

I upset one of the on the Development team, right after I had left and had installed Ubuntu. I had just finished burning an image to CD with the intent of reinstalling because I had installed a short term version that was no longer supported and I had just, I thought, disconnected from the discussion on the lack of merit in the Windoze System when all at once my computer came to life. I went into the files and suddenly I was receiving thousands of junk files. I had some form of rudimentary address tracker and there he was, same IP and just working himself into a frenzy filling my HDD with mush.

It's not nice to upset the powers that be. I pulled the cat 5, shut down and rebooted but off the new CD and did my install. Never did hear from him again, they are single most unfriendly bunch I have ever seen. I recall that he, ¿in stealth mode? tried that once more but then went away ignroing me... hurt my iddy bitty feelings.
