I downloaded a free copy of the XP iso file, not from MS. It should be an easy Google search because it is just as the title says, Windows XP Black. I installed this into Virtual Box on my Ubuntu Desktop to test and with XP being no longer supported, I was really surprised, it has updated twice, already. It has a very nice desktop and it runs as smooth as glass. I still own a copy of Serif's PagePlus Desktop Publisher and a copy of MS Publisher 2000 that I believe I'm going to put back into use with it.

I went for the link, here it is for any that remember the lack of trouble, oh yeah, it appears to be a Pro Edition that is already authorized by back door methods so there is no trouble keeping it running.

I'm assuming this is legal how to verify the download MD5-Sha 256 etc? the updates how to obtain the updates? i checked the download site..

I was surprised. I know how to authorize without the phone or the Internet but I never expected somebody to do this for the lovers of the best system MS ever produced.

I'm going to do some more research on this one Bill, it sounds good like one of those "too good to be true deals" one site "eHow" says ts pirated with a chance of Malware lurking in the shadows.. I'm still using XP Pro and was thinking about coning it because like you say its the best OS Microsoft has come up with.. imo :)

I have it running and there is no malware, it passed every test. That is not to say some might not hijack it and do just that but the copy I downloaded is virus, worm, trojan and root kit free. It doesn't even contain the MS/US Gov and NSA approved, built in root kit all new versions since 7 have contained so the government doesn't even need to enter through the built in MS Dos hole.

I believe that since MS has dropped the support for XP, they must no longer care or maybe it has to do with some law I know not of.

Nice to know someone out there made it available to those who either have lost it or never experienced a reasonably good OS from Microsoft. Why couldn't they just have left well enough alone? I know they wanted to go to 64 bit, but couldn't they have done that without messing up everything else in the process? I still have my XP Pro on a separate drive and plan to never give it up.

Since they were making XP in 64bit they were without reason, other than greed. The Black Edition is XP PRO also and it appears that the contributing software providers have broken ranks with MS... a good thing because programs like RegscrubXP and antivirus programs for it are still available for it.

Didn't know XP had a 64 bit version. So like you said, it had to have only been to make money by forcing people to buy a new OS when they didn't need it.
